MRG’s Riyadh Office is supporting a confidential giga-client in KSA to appoint an Executive Director, Commercial for a large-scale capital development programme.
This is a senior commercial leadership role with responsibility for commercial strategy, cost control, contract administration, change management, claims, governance, reporting, and commercial risk across a substantial multi-billion-dollar portfolio.
The position requires someone who has led commercial functions on complex programmes where scale, pace, stakeholder pressure, and financial control all matter. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, project teams, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders to ensure clear commercial discipline across the programme.
Role scope
- Lead and manage a senior commercial team across multiple workstreams.
- Set and maintain commercial strategy, governance, controls, and reporting standards.
- Oversee cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management.
- Monitor commercial performance against approved budgets and agreed programme targets.
- Lead contract administration, payment processes, final accounts, and close-out activity.
- Manage change control, claims, contractual notices, and commercial risk.
- Provide clear reporting and advice to executive stakeholders on cost, exposure, progress, and financial performance.
- Support procurement, delivery, controls, and project leadership teams with commercially sound decision-making.
Candidate profile
- 20+ years’ commercial experience across major capital programmes, development projects, infrastructure, real estate, or large mixed-use environments.
- Track record leading senior commercial teams on high-value, complex programmes, ideally exceeding USD 2bn in value.
- Strong technical knowledge across cost management, contracts, claims, change control, forecasting, reporting, and commercial governance.
- Background with a developer, PMC, consultancy, or major project organisation.
- Experience working in the Middle East would be beneficial, although candidates with directly relevant international programme experience will also be considered.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline. A master’s degree or professional accreditation would be advantageous.
