Roles and Responsibilities of Equipment Inspector
- Carry out initial inspection of all Plant, Machinery and Vehicles before mobilization or acceptance for project use.
- Verify that equipment is fit for purpose, in good operating condition, and compliant with Project SHES requirements.
- Review required documents before inspection, including registration, insurance, third-party certificates, operator/driver licenses, and training records.
- Conduct physical inspection of equipment to identify defects, damage, corrosion, leaks, cracks, wear, malfunction, missing parts, or unsafe conditions.
- Inspect cranes and lifting equipment against applicable requirements, including wire ropes, hooks, load charts, safety devices, markings, and structural condition.
- Ensure inspection stickers are affixed only after equipment has passed inspection and meets project requirements.
- Verify that inspection stickers and monthly color coding are applied correctly as per equipment category and inspection frequency.
- Carry out spot checks and routine inspections to ensure equipment remains safe, maintained, certified, and compliant during use.
- Support subcontractor equipment inspectors by providing technical guidance, clarification, and advice on inspection requirements.
- Witness third-party inspections when required, especially for cranes, lifting equipment, and other certified equipment.
- Immediately report any defects or unsafe conditions identified during inspections, spot checks, or daily pre-start inspection reviews.
- Ensure defective or unsafe equipment is tagged with a“DO NOT USE” tag and is not operated until rectified and re-inspected.
- Conduct re-inspection after repairs, maintenance, or corrective actions to confirm equipment is safe before releasing it for use.
- Support PMV database updating by providing inspection results, sticker details, expiry dates, certification status, defect status, and remarks.
- Participate in equipment-related incident investigations and support safe operation by monitoring inspection compliance, maintenance status, and operator daily checklist records.
Pay: Up to QAR10,500.00 per month
