Job Purpose

The Environment Coordinator supports the execution of consultancy services related to mangrove monitoring, conservation and enhancement. The role has a strong fieldwork component as it contributes to implementation of field surveys, e.g., baseline assessments and monitoring protocols, and mangrove / terrestrial restoration activities for clients within and beyond Saudi Arabia. The Coordinator conducts field operations, including being responsible for logistics, field data recording to support mangrove / terrestrial technical studies and progress reporting. The role also contributes to supervision of workers for larger scale mangrove / terrestrial restoration projects.

Job Responsibilities

Fieldwork, Data Recording & Reporting

• Conduct field surveys for mangrove monitoring and restoration, following standardized protocols. This include measurements of seedlings and trees parameters, measurements of environmental parameters by use of sensors, collection of samples.

• Implement small-scale mangrove restoration activities, including nurseries and planting.

• Coordinate labor for large-scale mangrove / terrestrial restoration activities, including demonstrating and transferring technical knowledge, ensuring adherence to technical protocols and field standards, reporting daily operations.

• Ensure smooth fieldwork operations by planning ahead (e.g., schedule activities, book transportation, prepare equipment and material).

• As required, act as the field team lead by coordinating other field team members, assigning roles and tasks, and acting as a first point of contact with upper management.

• Train and transfer knowledge to other junior team members.

• Record data using standardized forms, and perform quality check of data recorded by other junior team members.

• Collate data from coordinated team and ensure data are reported to senior team members in a timely manner.

• Adhere to and help implement field health and safety policies and procedures.

• Contribute to other terrestrial and marine fieldwork activities when required.

• Apply all safety procedures during field activities, boat and marine operations

• Ensure environmental best practices and compliance with relevant national and international standards.

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

• Fresh graduate with relevant bachelor’s degree (e.g. in environmental or biological science, or related field)

OR

• Diploma in relevant technical field and minimum 2 years experience in a field directly relevant to the position

• Experience with fieldwork in mangroves ecosystems is desirable.

• Data recording and data management experience.

• Experience working in remote regions is desirable.

• Microsoft Office Suite experience (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel)

Skills

• Physical condition sufficient to work in the field in physically demanding environment, and remote areas.

• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse multi-cultural team members

• Command of English is highly desirable.

Job Context

The role operates within a fast-paced consultancy environment, requiring high adaptability, and the ability to deliver high-quality outputs under tight timelines. Frequent field presence (coastal, marine, intertidal zones) is expected.
