Job Summary:

The Environmental Consultant is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance of environmental programs, policies, and initiatives within entities. This role involves conducting in-depth environmental audits, assessing sustainability efforts, and providing expert recommendations to enhance environmental governance and resource management.

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Assessments:

Conduct performance Assessments of government agencies, public sector entities, and private organizations to assess their adherence to environmental laws, regulations, and sustainability objectives.

Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of environmental policies and programs.

Identify gaps in compliance with national and international environmental standards (e.g., ISO 14001, Paris Agreement, local environmental laws).

Environmental Risk Assessment:

Analyze environmental risks associated with industrial operations, waste management, energy consumption, and resource utilization.

Develop risk mitigation strategies and provide recommendations to improve environmental performance.

Data Collection and Analysis:

Review environmental reports, sustainability disclosures, and operational data to assess environmental impact.

Utilize environmental auditing tools and methodologies to evaluate pollution control measures, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction efforts.

Policy Evaluation and Recommendations:

Assess the alignment of environmental policies with sustainable development goals (SDGs) and government regulations.

Recommend policy improvements based on audit findings and international best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with government agencies, environmental organizations, and industry experts to stay updated on evolving environmental regulations and practices.

Present audit findings and recommendations to key stakeholders, including policymakers and executive leadership.

Reporting and Documentation:

Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting key findings, gaps, and actionable recommendations.

Ensure audit documentation complies with performance audit standards and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.

Minimum of5-7 yearsof experience in environmental auditing, compliance, or sustainability consulting, preferably within a government or public sector setting.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.

Proficiency in environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001), sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP), and regulatory compliance.

Excellent report-writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Certifications such as Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA), Lead Auditor (ISO 14001), or similar credentials are a plus.

Key Competencies:

Attention to detail and ability to assess complex environmental data.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Knowledge of climate change policies, environmental governance, and sustainability reporting.
