Job Description
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all hotel and residential building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, fire safety systems, and building automation systems.
Ensure the property meets all safety, health, and environmental standards.
Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and equipment failure.
Lead, train, and mentor a team of engineers and maintenance staff, ensuring high standards of performance,
professionalism
, and customer service.
Create staff schedules and assign tasks to optimize operational efficiency.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support continuous
professional development
.
Develop and manage the engineering department’s annual budget, ensuring cost-effective operations within budgetary constraints.
Monitor energy usage, implement energy-saving initiatives, and promote
sustainability
practices.
Approve and track expenditures for equipment, materials, and repairs.
Ensure engineering work does not interfere with guest or resident experience, balancing operational efficiency and comfort.
Respond promptly to guest and resident complaints or service requests related to engineering.
Coordinate with other hotel departments to resolve issues timely.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations related to building maintenance, safety, and health codes.
Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and rectify them.
Develop and implement emergency response plans for the engineering department.
Lead major renovation projects, repairs, and installations, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
Collaborate with external contractors and vendors for specialized projects.
Manage engineering documentation, including contracts, service records, and inspection reports.
Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to improve operations and
guest experience

Implement maintenance and
sustainability
best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications Sound knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire systems, and electrical issues.
Fully understand products and tools used within the department.
Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing qualifications preferred.
One to two years of experience in a public contact role, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle hotel.
Proficient in using computers and point of sale systems for data entry and retrieval.
