Engineer Meter – Electrical
JOB PURPOSE
The role holder is responsible for overseeing the installation, operation, maintenance, calibration, and performance of electrical metering systems. The role ensures compliance with COMPANY electrical metering standards, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements, while supporting accuracy, reliability, and continuous improvement of metering operations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees the installation, maintenance (Preventive, Predictive, Emergency) , testing, calibration, and upgrading of all types of electrical meters, including smart meters.
- Ensures all electrical meter installations comply with COMPANY standards, approved specifications, and safety regulations.
- Troubleshoots electrical metering systems to ensure accurate, reliable, and uninterrupted meter readings.
- Coordinates with internal engineering teams, CONTRACTORs, and service providers to enhance meter performance and data accuracy.
- Reviews meter communication systems and supports integration with MDMS and related platforms.
- Monitors installation progress and operational performance, identifying defects, non-conformities, and improvement actions.
- Prepares technical reports and dashboards on installation status, system performance, and operational feedback.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of CWRs, including registration, assignment, execution, closure, and documentation in COMPANY systems.
- Ensure team compliance with all required permits, certificates, and competency records (e.g., QP permits,
Letters of Authorization).
- Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for recurring issues, escalations, or repeated customer complaints, and report findings to COMPANY leadership.
- Supports preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives for electrical metering systems.
- Ensures compliance with ISO requirements, Risk Management, ISMS, BCMS, and corporate governance frameworks.
- Ensures compliance with corporate Health and Safety regulations.
- Carries out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
- Remain available to respond promptly during emergencies or blackouts, including additional work hours when required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Qualifications / Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
Minimum 9 years of relevant experience in electrical metering systems or a related field, preferably within a utility or large infrastructure environment.

- Working knowledge of MDMS, meter communication protocols, and electrical standards.
- Proven fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Efficiency, Adaptability, Communication, Initiative.
- Written and Spoken English is essential; Arabic is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The role involves regular site visits, inspections, and coordination activities, including work in outdoor and operational environments as required.
