Advanced Smelting Industries Co. (ASIC), which is equally owned by Tasnee, operates a smelter situated in the Jizan Economic City. The facility is designed to smelt ilmenite (titanium-rich mineral sand) to produce Titania Dioxide slag and pig iron. The plant consists of two Electric Arc furnaces, each with a capacity of 250kt slag and 125kt pig iron. The slag produced is processed to be used as feedstock for titanium chlorination and sulphuric acid processes to ultimately produce titanium pigment, mainly used in paints and plastics.
Anexcitingopportunity is available for Engineer II, Process Technology, based in Jizan, reporting directly to the Superintendent, Process Technology.
About the role:
To provide daily technical and operational support within the Jizan Slagger process and production environment. Develop and implement process and technical solutions based on well-developed knowledge of engineering standards and practices to improve operations in the medium to long term.
You will be responsible for:
Monitoring operations and reporting on production and process performance.
Ensuring processes of plants operate within the prescribed process parameters.
Ensuring quality performance meets product and customer specifications.
Conducting plant and process health and risk assessments and HAZOP studies.
Investigating quality non-conformance and implementing solutions to deviations.
Championing Process Safety and maintaining requirements as per standard.
Assisting Production and Engineering with technical fault finding and RCA.
Developing and implementing solutions to improve operational performance.
Developing improvement concepts and conducting basic process engineering design.
Maintaining and developing process and operating models.
Conducting production reconciliation and metallurgical accounting.
Evaluating and implementing capital projects.
Ensuring and maintaining a healthywork environmentand safe operations and practices.
Developing and maintaining operational reports.
Developing and maintaining operating procedures.
Developing and reviewing technical documents and operating instructions.
Conducting desktop and pre-feasibility studies toward improving processes.
Aligning with operational excellence and ISO standards.
Conducting standby duty and working shifts when required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering Degree with 5 – 10 years of operational experience within a heavy industry environment (chemical, minerals processing, or pyrometallurgy operations).
Required Skills:
Experience in chemical and/or mineral processing and/or pyrometallurgical operations.
Experience in operational monitoring and reporting on production and process performance.
Experience in monitoring quality performance of operational processes.
Experience in production reconciliation and accounting.
Experience in technical fault finding and RCA techniques.
Experience in basic process engineering design.
Experience in the implementation of capital and engineering projects to improve operational performance.
Knowledge of principles of Process Safety, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments.
Knowledge of and experience with water treatment processes.
Knowledge of ISO standards.
