Position: Electrical Engineer: Material Specialist (Master Degree – 20 years Experience) / immediate joining
Position Overview:
The Material Standards & Specifications Specialist will play a vital technical role for our Client. This role ensures compliance with international standards, develops technical specifications, and drives the adoption of innovative technologies in the power distribution network. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in electrical equipment standards, substation design, and smart technology integration to enhance the reliability and efficiency of Qatar’s essential infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Standards and Specifications Expertise:
Demonstrate expert knowledge of international standards for distribution equipment such as:
MV & LV switch gear (up to 52kV).
Distribution transformers (oil and cast resin).
Cables (up to 33kV) and 11kV overhead lines.
Solar PV systems, smart energy meters, and communication systems.
Technical Query Management:
Address technical queries regarding KAHRAMAA specifications and ensure alignment with international standards. Provide accurate and feasible solutions to support operational excellence.
Testing and Compliance:
Possess expert knowledge of type tests, routine tests, and site tests, including requirements and acceptance criteria as per IEC standards. Review and evaluate type test and routine test reports to ensure compliance with KAHRAMAA specifications.
Smart Technology and Communication Systems:
Integrate advanced communication systems such as RTUs, modems, SCS, SCADA, and cybersecurity measures to support smart distribution networks. Conduct feasibility studies for the adoption of smart technologies within KAHRAMAA’s distribution network.
Network Development:
Perform site investigations and preliminary studies for substation design and fault analysis. Contribute to the design and selection of substation equipment based on operational needs and efficiency goals.
Guidelines and Innovation:
Develop guidelines and codes to support KAHRAMAA’s technical advancements. Lead feasibility studies to evaluate and implement new technologies that improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
General Duties:
Provide technical expertise and support for any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Educational Background:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed university.
Experience:
A minimum of 20-25 years of experience in a reputed electrical consultancy firm with a proven track record in:
Equipment standards and specifications.
Substation design and power distribution systems.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of international standards.
Proficiency in substation design and equipment selection.
Advanced understanding of smart technologies, communication systems, and cybersecurity in power networks.
Expertise in reviewing type tests, routine tests, and site test reports.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
