Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Designer with strong knowledge of DEWA and TAQA regulations, standards, and approval processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and coordinating electrical systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with local authority requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical design drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), load schedules, and shop drawings.
- Design power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, earthing, lightning protection, and low-current systems.
- Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection.
- Ensure all designs comply with DEWA, TAQA, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, IEC, and other applicable standards – mandatory.
- Coordinate with utility authorities for design approvals, NOCs, and project submissions.
- Prepare technical submittals, material approvals, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, architectural, and BIM teams to ensure clash-free designs.
- Review project specifications, tender documents, and consultant requirements.
- Support project execution teams with technical clarifications and design modifications.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and authority inspections when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design within the UAE.
- Strong knowledge of DEWA and TAQA regulations, design criteria, and approval procedures.
- Experience in residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with electrical design software such as ETAP, Dialux, Amtech, or equivalent.
- Ability to prepare authority-compliant design submissions and shop drawings.
- Strong analytical, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with BIM-based projects and Revit modeling.
- Knowledge of ADDC/AADC, SEWA, FEWA, or other UAE utility authority standards is an advantage.
- UAE driving license preferred.
