Electrical Construction EngineerJob Scope
- Plan, execute, monitor, coordinate, procure, install, carry out pre commissioning, hand over, commissioning and start up all electrical construction works across the organization in liaison with the project management team for a wide range of electrical equipment (control panels, VSD, power distribution systems, MV/LV switch gears, electric motors, transformers, etc.) in various plants/sites, acting as a key focal point for all electrical engineering aspects for contractors/consultants and monitoring the work to facilitate successful completion of projects as per defined parameters, industry best practices and contractual agreements.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the construction and pre commissioning phase of major and minor projects executed by annual and EPC contractors.
- Supervise contractors’ work to ensure implementation of specified scope with lower cost, high quality, and meeting client standards and procedures.
- Review modification approval drawings/documents, confirm with circuit control, single line diagram, etc., and conduct site verification for construction deficiencies and approval.
- Liaise with concerned departments for timely availability of materials; prepare requisitions to issue client warehouse materials and procure from local suppliers when shortages occur.
- Arrange various types of work permits; explain hazards; prepare Job Safety Analysis and Method Statements for electrical activities; confirm works are done safely and follow client standards.
- Prepare inspection and test plans and conduct all types and shop tests.
- Propose field design changes during the construction phase and obtain approval from engineering section.
- Prepare punch list and confirm works are performed as per engineering study.
- Liaise with Production Department and other disciplines to facilitate pre commissioning and commissioning, and hand over to production.
- After completion built documents and issue the close out report.
- Monitor project detail planning, status, and progress to avoid overruns or increased costs.
- Attend meetings with different departments and sections to ensure timely communication of issues and minimize interface disconnect.
- Conduct meetings, either internally or externally with contractors, during project execution.
- Check and certify contractor invoices as per contract terms and conditions.
- Perform other administrative tasks, observe fire and safety regulations, enforce safety rules, and maintain quality in all works carried out at the plant.
Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality
- Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety, security, environmental and quality management procedures.
- Work closely with HSSE on related tasks.
- Update documentation related to modifications.
- Participate in risk assessment studies such as HAZOP.
Reports
- Provide regular progress reports related to assigned modifications.
Internal and External Communications
- Internal:
Project team, Requester (project owner), Inventory, Procurement and other relevant parties. - External:
Contractors, Vendors/Suppliers, Consultants and Service Providers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years for engineers and 12 years for senior engineers in construction with 3-8 years of supervisory/team leadership responsibilities and exposure to project and contractor management.
