EHS / HACCP Officer Jobs in Dubai at Social Hotels and Resorts

Job Purpose

The EHS/HACCP Officer is responsible for ensuring that the hotel operates in full compliance with the requirements of Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defense, and other relevant UAE authorities concerning food safety, occupational health and safety, environmental health, and hygiene standards. The position supports all operational departments to maintain a safe working environment and deliver the highest standards of food safety and guest wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety & HACCP

* Implement and maintain the hotel’s HACCP Food Safety Management System in accordance with Dubai Municipality Food Code.

* Conduct daily inspections of all food production, storage, receiving, stewarding, bars, restaurants, room service, and banquet kitchens.

* Verify food temperatures, cooling procedures, thawing methods, cooking temperatures, hot and cold holding, and food transportation.

* Monitor food receiving procedures and supplier compliance.

* Ensure proper labeling, date marking, traceability, FIFO and FEFO practices.

* Monitor allergen control procedures and cross-contamination prevention.

* Review and maintain all HACCP monitoring records.

* Coordinate microbiological and water testing where required.

* Investigate food safety complaints and implement corrective actions.

* Liaise with Dubai Municipality Food Safety Inspectors during inspections.

* Ensure the hotel’s Pork Permit requirements are fully complied with, where applicable.

Health & Safety

* Conduct routine workplace safety inspections throughout the hotel.

* Perform departmental risk assessments and recommend corrective actions.

* Monitor compliance with PPE requirements.

* Investigate accidents, injuries, property damage, and near-miss incidents.

* Maintain accident investigation records and statistics.

* Ensure safe chemical handling and storage in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

* Conduct ergonomic and manual handling assessments.

* Monitor contractor safety and permit-to-work systems.

* Participate in emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.

Fire & Life Safety

* Coordinate with the Engineering Department regarding fire safety compliance.

* Ensure emergency exits remain unobstructed.

* Verify inspection schedules for fire extinguishers, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and fire suppression systems.

* Organize emergency evacuation drills.

* Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

* Coordinate with Dubai Civil Defense during inspections when required.

Environmental Management

* Monitor waste segregation and recycling programs.

* Promote water and energy conservation initiatives.

* Monitor food waste reduction programs.

* Ensure environmentally responsible disposal of oils, chemicals, and hazardous waste.

* Support the hotel’s sustainability objectives.

Audits & Regulatory Compliance

* Conduct scheduled internal HACCP and Health & Safety audits.

* Prepare departments for:

* Dubai Municipality inspections

* Dubai Civil Defense inspections

* Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) inspections

* Hotel brand audits (where applicable)

* Monitor corrective actions until closure.

* Ensure all licenses, permits, and compliance certificates remain valid.

Training & Awareness

* Deliver mandatory Food Safety and HACCP training for all food handlers.

* Conduct Health & Safety induction training for all new employees.

* Provide refresher training on:

* Personal hygiene

* Food allergen awareness

* Chemical safety

* Fire safety

* Manual handling

* Emergency response

* Maintain comprehensive training records.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain and update:

* HACCP Manual

* Food Safety records

* Temperature logs

* Cleaning and sanitation records

* Pest control reports

* Calibration records

* Chemical inventory and SDS files

* Accident and incident reports

* Risk assessments

* Internal audit reports

* Municipality inspection reports

* Monthly EHS KPI dashboard

Prepare monthly reports covering:

* HACCP compliance

* Food safety observations

* Safety inspections

* Training completion

* Incident statistics

* Corrective action status

* Environmental performance

Qualifications

Mandatory

* Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Environmental Health, Public Health, Occupational Health & Safety, Hospitality, or a related discipline.

* HACCP Level 3 (or higher).

* Dubai Municipality Basic Food Safety knowledge.

Preferred

* NEBOSH International General Certificate.

* IOSH Managing Safely.

* ISO 22000 Internal Auditor.

* ISO 45001 Internal Auditor.

* First Aid Certification.

* Fire Warden Training.

Experience

* Minimum 3 years’ experience as an EHS, HACCP, or Food Safety Officer in a 4- or 5-star hotel.

* Experience with Dubai Municipality Food Safety inspections.

* Knowledge of Dubai Food Code requirements.

* Experience working with hotel kitchen operations, stewarding, restaurants, bars, banqueting, and housekeeping.

Skills

* Strong knowledge of HACCP principles.

* Knowledge of Dubai Municipality Food Code and food safety regulations.

* Understanding of UAE occupational health and safety requirements.

* Excellent inspection and auditing skills.

* Strong report writing and analytical abilities.

* Effective training and presentation skills.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

* Ability to work independently and across multiple departments.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

* Achieve a minimum of *95% HACCP compliance* during internal audits.

* Zero critical food safety violations.

* Successful Dubai Municipality inspections with no major non-conformities.

* 100% completion of mandatory food safety and health & safety training.

* Close corrective actions within agreed timelines.

* Reduce workplace accidents and near misses year on year.

* Ensure 100% completion of temperature monitoring and HACCP documentation.

* Maintain 100% validity of all compliance records, permits, and licenses.

* Improve environmental performance through reduced water, energy, and food waste.

* Maintain guest food safety complaints below the hotel’s annual target.

Working Conditions

* Full-time position (48 hours per week), with flexibility to support evening, weekend, and public holiday operations when required.

* Frequent movement between kitchens, restaurants, bars, banquet facilities, housekeeping, engineering, receiving, and back-of-house areas.

* Required to wear appropriate PPE when entering operational or engineering areas.

* Regular interaction with government inspectors, suppliers, contractors, and hotel management.

Pay: AED2,000.00 – AED4,000.00 per month
