We are seeking a professional and courteous Telephone Operator to manage incoming and outgoing calls efficiently. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to handle multiple calls simultaneously. The Telephone Operator will be responsible for directing calls to the appropriate departments, providing basic information to callers, and ensuring a seamless communication experience for both customers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Answer and direct incoming calls promptly and professionally.
Provide accurate information to callers and address inquiries.
Transfer calls to the appropriate department or individual.
Take and relay messages accurately when necessary.
Maintain an updated directory of contacts and departments.
Monitor and operate the switchboard or communication system effectively.
Handle emergency calls and escalate urgent matters as required.
Assist with administrative tasks, such as scheduling and record-keeping.
Ensure a polite and friendly tone while handling all communication.
Report any technical issues with the telephone system to the IT department.
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience as a telephone operator or in a customer service role is preferred.
Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in using telephone systems and basic computer applications.
Professional and courteous telephone etiquette.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
