Job Summary:
A Dental Assistant supports dentists and dental hygienists in delivering high-quality oral healthcare. They assist with patient care, prepare treatment rooms, handle dental instruments, and ensure a clean and organized work environment. Dental Assistants may also perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
– Prepare patients for dental procedures and ensure their comfort.
– Assist dentists during examinations and treatments by handing instruments, suctioning, and keeping the work area clean.
– Take and develop dental X-rays as needed.
– Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
– Prepare dental materials, such as fillings and impressions.
– Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
Work Environment:
Dental Assistants work in dental offices, clinics, or specialty practices. They spend most of their time in treatment rooms, assisting dentists and working closely with patients. The role may require standing for long periods and handling sterilization chemicals.
