We are looking for a skilled DNS Engineer / DNS Administrator to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize enterprise DNS infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for DNS design, configuration, administration, performance monitoring, security, and troubleshooting across on-premises and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, configure, administer, and maintain enterprise DNS infrastructure.
Manage DNS servers, zones, records, forwarders, resolvers, and delegation.
Configure and troubleshoot A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, PTR, SRV and other DNS records.
Manage authoritative and recursive DNS services.
Perform DNS zone creation, transfers, delegation, and migrations.
Troubleshoot DNS resolution, latency, propagation, and connectivity issues.
Implement and manage DNS security including DNSSEC, secure dynamic updates, and access controls.
Monitor DNS availability, performance, capacity, and health.
Work with networking, security, cloud, and infrastructure teams to resolve DNS-related issues.
Support DNS infrastructure across data centers, hybrid cloud, and public cloud environments.
Automate DNS administration and operational tasks using scripting and automation tools.
Participate in DNS migration, upgrades, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities.
Maintain DNS documentation, standards, procedures, and configuration baselines.
Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
Provide L2/L3 support for complex DNS-related incidents.
Required Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with DNS administration and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and network protocols.
Experience with DNS platforms such as:
Infoblox
BIND
Microsoft DNS / Windows Server DNS
BlueCat
Other enterprise DNS solutions.
Strong knowledge of DNS concepts including:
Recursive vs. authoritative DNS
DNS zones and delegation
Zone transfers – AXFR/IXFR
DNS caching and TTL
Forwarders and conditional forwarding
Split-horizon DNS
DNSSEC
Reverse DNS / PTR records
Experience with DNS troubleshooting tools such as nslookup, dig, host, tcpdump, Wireshark.
Knowledge of DHCP and IPAM is highly desirable.
Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments.
Knowledge of cloud DNS services such as:
AWS Route 53
Azure DNS
Google Cloud DNS
Experience with scripting/automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Infoblox NIOS and/or BlueCat Address Manager.
Knowledge of IPAM, DHCP, DNS automation, and network security.
Experience with Terraform, Ansible, REST APIs, or other automation frameworks.
Knowledge of load balancing and CDN technologies.
Understanding of DNS-based security threats, DNS spoofing, cache poisoning, DDoS, and DNS tunneling.
Experience working in large enterprise or global infrastructure environments.
