About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the Engineering function and safeguard the long-term condition, reliability, and operational readiness of Al Zorah Beach Resort.

As a key member of the resort’s leadership team, the Director of Engineering will oversee all aspects of engineering operations, maintenance, asset protection, utilities, landscaping, life safety systems, contractor management, and capital planning across the resort. The position will drive technical excellence, operational efficiency, sustainability, compliance, and financial performance while ensuring the resort’s facilities, infrastructure, and guest environments are maintained to the highest luxury standards.

As the resort embarks on an exciting renovation and repositioning journey ahead of its transition to Four Seasons Resort Ajman at Al Zorah, this position will be instrumental in delivering property enhancements, supporting brand integration, and ensuring the resort is fully prepared for its next chapter as a world-class luxury destination.

We are looking for a strategic, highly organized, hands-on leader who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and the ability to build and develop high-performing teams. Proven success in hotel renovations, asset enhancement projects, pre-openings, conversions, or significant property transformations will be a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Engineering Division, setting its direction, priorities, standards, and performance objectives.
  • Lead and develop the Engineering leadership team, fostering accountability, succession planning, technical excellence, and a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure the effective maintenance and operation of all resort facilities, infrastructure, plant, equipment, guest areas, back-of-house facilities, landscaping, pools, beach facilities, and employee areas.
  • Translate the resort’s business objectives into engineering strategies, maintenance plans, capital projects, and measurable operational outcomes.
  • Own the financial performance of the department, including budgeting, forecasting, utilities management, labour productivity, repair and maintenance costs, and capital expenditure planning.
  • Partner with operational and support departments to maximise asset performance, operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, and overall resort results.
  • Drive continuous improvement across maintenance effectiveness, sustainability, energy efficiency, safety, compliance, and cost management.
  • Lead engineering support for renovation, conversion, pre-opening, and brand-readiness initiatives, including project coordination, commissioning, snagging, testing, and handover activities.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programmes, asset lifecycle planning, technical records, contractor performance, and engineering governance across the resort.
  • Ensure full compliance with fire life safety, environmental, health and safety, Civil Defence, municipality, and statutory requirements.
  • Contribute actively to the resort’s long-term asset strategy, capital planning, sustainability goals, and major operational decisions as a member of the leadership team.
  • Act as a visible senior leader and trusted partner for guests, employees, ownership representatives, consultants, contractors, and the wider resort community.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A proven track record in senior Engineering leadership roles within a luxury resort, hotel, or hospitality environment.
  • At least 8 to 10 years of progressive hospitality engineering experience, including significant responsibility for resort operations, maintenance, utilities, and asset management.
  • Experience leading pre-opening projects, renovations, conversions, rebranding initiatives, or large-scale property transformations is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge across building systems, plant operations, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, life safety systems, water treatment, pools, landscaping, and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, utility management, capital expenditure planning, cost control, and financial performance management.
  • A credible and inspiring leadership style, with a strong record of developing teams, building accountability, and raising operational standards.
  • Strong project management skills, including contractor supervision, technical planning, risk assessment, commissioning, and operational readiness.
  • Exceptional organisational capability, sound judgement, problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead effectively in complex and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience leading multicultural teams in an international hospitality environment.
  • Strong command of English is required. Fluency in Arabic or other relevant languages will be considered an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of hotel maintenance systems, building management systems (BMS), Microsoft Office, and relevant engineering software platforms.
