- Job Summary :
To direct and oversee the General Accounting Department, ensuring accurate and complete recording of the Fund’s financial transactions, compliance with standards and regulations, and alignment with EF’s financial strategy. The role is accountable to define and maintain accounting frameworks, promote transparency, and collaborate with stakeholders to support effective decision-making and organizational excellence.
- Responsibilities & Accountabilities :
-Oversee and supervise the work of assigned teams to ensure that activities are executed efficiently and in line with approved procedures and policies.
-Provide guidance and on-the-job training for staff to facilitate achievement of objectives, ensure task completion, and promote knowledge sharing.
-Encourage continuous development and improvement within the department, ensuring alignment with EF’s standards.
-Oversee the preparation and accuracy of journal entries, reconciliations, and closing activities across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles.
-Ensure proper execution of payroll, benefits, disbursements, and other employee-related transactions in coordination with Human Capital.
-Supervise the management of general ledger, fixed assets accounting, and chart of accounts.
-Review and approve the preparation of financial statements and periodic reports in compliance with SOCPA and IPSAS.
-Collaborate with auditors, regulators, and internal departments to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
-Define reporting formats and schedules that enable timely submission to leadership and the Board.
-Ensure compliance with statutory accounting requirements, authority matrix approvals, and EF’s internal governance framework.
-Support in external and internal audit reviews by ensuring completeness of documentation and addressing audit findings.
-Promote the adoption of international best practices in accounting and reporting.
-Develop initiatives to modernize accounting systems through automation and process redesign.
-Encourage knowledge sharing and cross-department collaboration to enhance efficiency and reduce errors
- Job Requirements:
–Education :Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
–Years of experience :Minimum 9 years in Accounting, with at least 4 years in a managerial role.
–Skills :Financial Account Management, Financial Control and Reporting, Accounting Standards and Practices, Decision Making, Strategic Thinking, Information Systems Knowledge, Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Rules and Regulations, Data Gathering and Assessment.
