Job Summary
The Data Center Manager ensures the continuous availability, security, and efficiency of data center operations, including servers, storage systems, network infrastructure, and critical supporting facilities such as power, cooling, and physical security
Core Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall operation, stability, and efficiency of the data centre, ensuring uninterrupted availability of IT services and supporting infrastructure.
- Oversee end-to-end data centre operations, including servers, storage, networking systems, and virtualization platforms, ensuring 24/7 uptime and optimal performance. This includes managing shift operations, enforcing standard operating procedures, and maintaining operational discipline.
- Accountable for the physical infrastructure and facility systems, such as UPS, generators, HVAC, and power distribution, ensuring environmental conditions remain within required thresholds and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance with vendors.
- A key responsibility is incident and problem management, where they lead response efforts during outages, ensure rapid service restoration, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive actions to reduce recurrence.
- Handle capacity planning and optimization, monitoring power, cooling, space, and network utilization while forecasting future growth needs and planning infrastructure expansion or upgrades.
- The role also includes ensuring security and compliance, covering both physical security controls and adherence to IT governance standards, audit requirements, and industry frameworks such as ISO and ITIL.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring systems are regularly tested and that backup and failover mechanisms are reliable.
- Provides team leadership and vendor management, overseeing technical staff, coordinating with cross-functional IT teams, and managing third-party service providers to ensure SLA compliance.
- Responsible for monitoring, reporting, and documentation, using infrastructure management tools to track performance, maintain asset records, and always ensure full audit readiness.
Education Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, ElectronicsEngineering, or a related discipline
- Master’s degree in IT or Relevant Engineering is an added advantage
Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, data center operations, or systems/network engineering
- At least 3–5 years in a managerial or supervisory role leading data center or mission-critical infrastructure teams
- Strong experience in:
- Large-scale data center operations
- Enterprise server, storage, and network environments
- Facility infrastructure (UPS, HVAC, generators, power systems)
- Incident, change, and problem management (ITIL-based environments)
- Experience in high availability environments (24/7 operations) is essential
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, hybrid environments) is an added advantage
- Prior experience in industries such as banking, telecom, government, or large enterprises is highly preferred
