Job Summary:
The Purchase Assistant for Philippine Food is responsible for supporting the procurement team in sourcing and purchasing food ingredients and products relevant to the Philippine food industry. This role involves assisting in supplier management, inventory control, and ensuring the timely delivery of food products to meet business demands. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for Philippine cuisine.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Support: Assist the purchasing team in sourcing and ordering ingredients and products for Philippine cuisine from suppliers, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Supplier Communication: Communicate regularly with suppliers to follow up on orders, resolve any issues, and maintain good working relationships.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels to ensure there is a consistent supply of ingredients and materials required for production and sales.
Order Processing: Process purchase orders accurately and track the progress of deliveries to ensure products arrive on time and in good condition.
Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, delivery receipts, and other relevant documents for auditing purposes.
Cost Analysis: Assist in reviewing pricing, supplier contracts, and analyzing cost trends to ensure the company is getting competitive rates.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the products meet the standards for Philippine food ingredients and adhere to safety and quality guidelines.
Market Research: Stay updated on market trends, new suppliers, and emerging food products in the Philippine food industry to contribute to purchasing decisions.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the purchasing department, such as preparing reports, updating purchase logs, and assisting with any other purchasing-related tasks.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred. A strong knowledge of Philippine food ingredients and products is a plus.
Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within the food industry or related sectors.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of inventory management and procurement software is a plus.
Other: A passion for Philippine cuisine and an understanding of food sourcing and quality standards within the local and international food markets is an advantage.
