Job Specification
• Supervise assigned crew during duties, emergency response activities, drills, and standby operations.
• Operate and supervise the operation of ARFF vehicles, firefighting systems, rescue equipment, communication systems, and associated operational resources.
• Respond to aircraft emergencies, structural fires, fuel incidents, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and other airport emergencies as directed.
• Participate and supervise tactical firefighting, rescue, casualty handling, evacuation, and hazard control activities during emergency operations.
• Conduct routine inspections of firefighting vehicles, rescue tools, communication systems, PPE, extinguishing agents, and station equipment to maintain operational readiness.
• Assist in the implementation of station drills, practical exercises, operational familiarization activities, and recurrent training programmes.
• Maintain operational records, inspection checklists, equipment logs, occurrence reports, and assigned documentation related to shift activities.
• Monitor operational safety practices, PPE compliance, housekeeping standards, and readiness conditions within assigned operational areas.
• Ensure implementation of departmental SOPs, Airport Emergency Plan procedures, and operational instructions during routine and emergency activities.
• Direct the assigned crew activities and maintain effective communication with supervisors and operational personnel during emergency response operations.
Human and Technical Resources
• Supervise operational activities of assigned firefighters and drivers/operators during routine duties and emergency operations.
• Verify operational readiness and serviceability of assigned vehicles, firefighting equipment, rescue tools, PPE, and communication systems.
• Report equipment defects, operational deficiencies, and maintenance requirements affecting emergency response capability.
• Assist in practical familiarization and on-the-job guidance of personnel deployed under.
• Ensure operational resources assigned to the crew are maintained in a clean, serviceable, and operationally ready condition.
Planning and Programmes
• Conduct shift level drills, operational exercises, practical training sessions, and familiarization programmes.
• Participate in operational preparedness activities, inspection schedules, and emergency readiness programmes.
• Assist in organizing crew activities during shifts to maintain continuous operational response capability.
• Participate in post-drill debriefings, operational reviews, and continuous improvement activities.
• Ensure completion of all competency development activities as per stipulated timeframe.
Core Operational Activities
• Respond promptly to all emergency calls and participate in the deployment of ARFF resources during emergency operations.
• Operate and supervise the operation of crash fire tenders, firefighting appliances, rescue tools, and associated emergency equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
• Participate in firefighting, rescue, casualty management, hazard control, and evacuation operations during emergency incidents.
• Maintain communication discipline and comply with approved RT communication procedures and phraseology during operational activities.
• Conduct operational inspections, equipment checks, foam level checks, and routine readiness inspections during assigned duties.
• Assist in maintaining station discipline, operational housekeeping, and readiness standards throughout the operational shift.
Human Resources Management
• Effective supervision of assigned crew personnel during operational and training activities.
• Promote teamwork, discipline, safe working practices, and professional conduct among operational personnel.
• Assist in training, mentoring, and practical familiarization of firefighters and newly assigned personnel.
• Encourage reporting of hazards, unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and operational concerns.
• Maintain effective coordination and communication with supervisory personnel during operational activities.
Budget and Activity Planning
• Supports efficient utilization and care of operational vehicles, firefighting media, PPE, rescue tools, and station resources.
• Monitor operational usage of firefighting agents, consumables, and equipment and report deficiencies or replenishment requirements.
• Ensure inventory accountability and operational care of equipment assigned to the crew.
• Carry out assigned activities efficiently while maintaining operational readiness standards.
Quality and Environmental Management (QMS / EMS)
• Follow approved operational procedures, inspection standards, and departmental requirements during firefighting, rescue, and routine operational activities.
• Participate in operational inspections, equipment checks, and readiness verification activities assigned during shift duties.
• Maintain responsible handling practices related to firefighting foam, fuel, hazardous materials, and operational waste within assigned work areas.
Safety Management System (SMS)
• Assist in the implementation of Safety Management System (SMS) requirements during operational and emergency response activities.
• Identify and report operational hazards, unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and safety concerns through approved reporting procedures.
• Follow approved operational safety practices, PPE requirements, and safe system of work during all duties.
• Participate in operational investigations, safety briefings, and corrective action implementation activities where assigned.
• Promote safety awareness and responsible operational conduct during routine and emergency duties.
