Job Title: Desalination Expert
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Desalination Expert with 10+ years of expertise in the commissioning, testing, and performance validation of reverse osmosis (RO) desalination plants. The ideal candidate will oversee technical compliance, system performance assessments, and process optimization to ensure efficient and sustainable water production.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and witness commissioning tests for RO desalination plants, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Conduct technical reviews and performance validation of desalination systems, including membrane processes, high-pressure pumps, and energy recovery devices.
Analyze test data to assess plant efficiency, water quality parameters, and system reliability.
Evaluate EPC contractor test reports, identifying deviations and providing corrective action recommendations.
Prepare and submit Test Findings Reports, including:
Summary of test results and observations
Description of performed tests and methodologies
Compliance evaluation with design and regulatory requirements
Independent expert review and recommendations
Evidence and analysis of anomalies observed during testing
Ensure the optimization of energy consumption and plant operational efficiency.
Provide technical support for troubleshooting, system improvements, and process enhancements.
Collaborate with project teams, EPC contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations throughout the commissioning phase.
Manage necessary access permits, including CICPA passes if required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Water Treatment, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in desalination plant commissioning, operations, or process optimization.
Expertise in reverse osmosis (RO) technology, membrane performance, and pretreatment systems.
Strong understanding of high-pressure pump systems, energy recovery devices, and chemical dosing systems.
Proficiency in water quality analysis, process control, and plant troubleshooting.
Familiarity with international standards and regulations (e.g., WHO, ASTM, ISO, and regional water authorities).
Experience with SCADA systems, process automation, and water treatment software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical report-writing skills.
Willingness to be on-site in Abu Dhabi during commissioning phases.
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Water Treatment Specialist (WQA, IWA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification preferred.
HSE and industry-specific certifications are beneficial.
