A Contract Specialist is responsible for strategic planning with expertise in Contract Pricing, Drafting, Administration, Planning and Scheduling for Infrastructure and Building Projects. Holds the distinction of managing the Contracts and conducting quantity surveys for numerous Infrastructure and Building projects during the career path. This role requires a solid understanding of legal principles and business requirements to align contracts with organizational goals and regulatory standards.

Contract Specialists work to minimize risks while protecting the organization’s legal and financial interests. They collaborate closely with various departments, vendors, clients, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and smooth contract execution. Additionally, they monitor active contracts to verify that all parties.

Typical duties and responsibilities:

  • Diverse experience in managing Extension of Time Claims and Financial Claims for Infrastructure and Building Contracts, analysis, drafting RFQs, tender evaluation, negotiation and finalization of subcontracts, budgeting, locating work scope ambiguities and discrepancies in schedules, identification, negotiation and resolution of claims.
  • Act like a Contractual Middleman whilst dealing with the Employer and the Contractor and effectively handling several Project Contractual / Commercial Issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to ensure clarity, compliance with organizational policies, and adherence to legal standards.
  • Prepare contractual agreements using current research methods and a knowledge of a client's needs and ability to fulfill its requirements
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and program manager to prepare engine work scope in order to estimate engine shop visit cost and Lead Time
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to keep aligned MRP data and BOM (Bill of Materials)
  • Collaborate with a legal team consisting of lawyers, paralegals, and office staff
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements and address concerns related to contract terms and conditions.
  • Obtaining prices from Sub-contractors / Vendors from local and international sources.
  • Also Negotiate / finalize Technical & Commercial Issues.
  • Attending post-contract meeting with the Consultants / Clients to conclude construction activities such as sequence of operation, completion program, invoicing / payment terms, cash flow schedules etc.
  • Plan, design, develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of commercial activities and drive continuous improvement. EVM and schedule management, measure and report Value of Work Down (VOWD), record Accruals, Cost Estimation, Civil Engineering survey works, Risk Contingency Management including P50 and P90 Estimates, cash flow forecast with Project Control Management including Trend Forecast for Capex projects, follow FEED Engineering drawings, Contract management effectively articulate creative solutions including maintain milestone progress, planning engineering, schedule management and management of changes and trend forecasting.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential liabilities and ensure contracts effectively minimize these risks.
  • Maintain well-organized and up-to-date contract documentation, tracking key milestones, deadlines, and renewal dates.
  • Review contract terms and conditions to verify that they are in compliance with company policies and all applicable federal and state regulations
  • Interface with supply chain on planning the manufacture schedule within a multiproduct facility to drive efficient manufacture campaigns to the customer schedule
  • Plan the development and/or acquisition of required talent though development of skills and capabilities in the appropriate Manufacturing OEM field
  • Lead the Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives within Manufacturing including project tracking and mentoring of other team members projects and facilitating colleagues through lean six sigma green belt programs
  • Report, Presentation and action key departmental KPI’s
  • Change management inclusive of implementing end to end process changes within the quality systems including the creating of BOM’s, Master Batch record and SOP changes
  • Provide expert guidance and support to teams on contract-related matters, including interpretation, implementation, and dispute resolution.
  • Stay current on changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards that may impact contract management and compliance.
  • Manage Projects through execution to ensure specifications are established prior to production and all parameters are achieved during the qualification, verification and commercialization steps
  • Project driver on key manufacturing projects, , new product introduction, rationalization of facilities
  • Strategic and tactical planning execution for Contract Manufacturing sources
  • Coordinate with Design Engineers to ensure the manufacturability and producibility of high quality detail design and manufacturing drawings within schedule requirements
  • Reviews and ensures tool, manufacturing process design, production facility layout and production flow, test and support production of MLS’ family of products
  • Contracts Specialist responsibilities include drafting and editing contracts, communicating with vendors and ensuring that our contracts meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Ultimately, you will work with our legal department and directly with vendors to help draft, edit, and process legal contracts as needed.

Required skills and experience

5–10 years of experience in contract management, procurement, or a related field.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Federal Contracts Manager) are a plus.

BS degree in Engineering discipline (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Operations Research)

  • Strong understanding of contract law and legal terminology, with the ability to interpret complex contract language.
  • Knowledge of current and legally-binding contractual language and terminology
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills for effective interaction with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Strong business knowledge of biotech/pharma manufacturing operations, product and process development, finance, and supply chain operations
  • Strong compliance orientation and attention to detail within a cGMP environment
  • Experience with manufacturing of solid oral dosage products, including API, drug product and packaging
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a collaborative approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Proven work experience as a Contracts Specialist or similar role
