Position: CONTAINER & YARD LOGISTICS ASSISTANT
CONTAINER & YARD LOGISTICS ASSISTANT
To ensure the efficient and accurate handling, tracking, and documentation of containers within the yard and port facility, supporting smooth logistics operations and compliance with safety and customs regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Container & Yard Management:
- Monitor and record all container movements (in, out, stacking) in the yard using the Terminal Operating System (TOS).
- Plan and optimize container stacking locations to maximize yard space and accessibility.
- Conduct daily yard checks and report any discrepancies, damages, or safety hazards.
- Gate & Documentation Control:
- Oversee gate operations for incoming and outgoing trucks, verifying container numbers, seals, and documentation.
- Prepare and process shipping documents, including Gate Passes, Delivery Orders, and Manifests.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintain up-to-date logs and inventory reports.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Liaise with trucking companies, shipping line agents, and customs officials to resolve operational issues.
- Coordinate with crane and side loader operators for timely container handling and movement.
- Provide updates to the planning and operations teams on yard status and potential bottlenecks.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all yard activities adhere to company safety policies, port security protocols, and environmental regulations.
- Support in implementing and monitoring safe work practices for all personnel in the yard area.
- Assist in inspections and audits as required.
Working Conditions
- This role involves a combination of office work and outdoor activities in all weather conditions.
- Shift work is required, including nights, weekends, and public holidays (as per port operations).
- Must be physically fit to walk extensively in the yard and occasionally handle light equipment.
