Job Purpose:
The Pediatric Intensivist Consultant leads and manages the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), providing expert care for critically ill children. This role encompasses advanced clinical responsibilities,leadership, mentorship, and involvement in research and policy development. The consultant ensures high-quality care, fostersmultidisciplinaryteamwork, and drives improvements in pediatriccritical care.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver expert care for children with severe conditions like multi-organ failure, sepsis, trauma, and cardiac/neurological issues.
Manage advanced life support systems, including mechanical ventilation and ECMO.
Oversee emergency care, resuscitation, and stabilization of critical patients.
Lead the PICU team, guiding physicians, nurses, and therapists.
Mentor and train junior staff in clinical andethical practices.
Develop and update clinical protocols aligned with evidence-based practices.
Conduct audits and case reviews to upholdpatient safetyandquality care.
Optimize resource use within the PICU.
Engage in research and contribute to advancements in pediatric intensive care.
Stay updated on the latest practices throughprofessional development.
Education and Language Requirements:
Board Certification in General Pediatrics and a Clinical Fellowship in PICU.
Fluency in English is mandatory;
Arabic proficiency is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
57 years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years in PICU.
Leadership rolesin PICU management are required.
Expertise in advanced life support systems, ventilation strategies, and ethical decision-making.
Familiarity with GCC healthcare systems is an advantage.
