Job Summary
We are looking for a hardworking and responsible Commis Chef to support the daily kitchen operations. The candidate will be responsible for cooking, baking, food preparation, and kitchen cleaning, while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food according to approved recipes and standards.
- Assist in the preparation of pasta, sauces, sandwiches, breakfast items, and other menu dishes as required.
- Carry out baking duties, including preparation and baking of desserts, cakes, cookies, breads, or other bakery items.
- Complete daily mise en place before service.
- Ensure proper portioning, presentation, taste, and quality of all food items.
- Follow recipes accurately and minimize food wastage.
- Maintain correct storage, labeling, FIFO, and expiry-date control.
- Keep the kitchen and food preparation areas clean and hygienic at all times.
- Wash and clean kitchen equipment, utensils, trays, pots, pans, worktables, and other items as required.
- Clean floors, shelves, refrigerators, ovens, cooking equipment, and workstations.
- Complete opening and closing cleaning duties.
- Follow all food safety, personal hygiene, and HACCP requirements.
- Inform the supervisor about low stock, damaged equipment, expired products, or quality issues.
- Assist with receiving and storing food supplies when required.
- Perform any other reasonable kitchen duties assigned by the Head Chef or management.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Commis Chef or kitchen staff is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of cooking and baking.
- Willingness to perform cleaning duties as part of the position.
- Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety.
- Ability to work under pressure and during busy service periods.
- Must be hardworking, punctual, disciplined, and a good team player.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
Important: This is a hands-on kitchen position. The employee is expected to participate equally in cooking, baking, preparation, washing, and cleaning duties as part of their daily responsibilities.
Pay: AED2,200.00 – AED2,500.00 per month
