Job Summary
The CNC Punching machine operator is responsible for setting up the tools and steel sheets in accordance with the engineering team’s submitted data/program. To ensure safe operations, the CNC operator will keep the equipment and the surrounding environment tidy.
Job Responsibilities 1
Performing daily and weekly maintenance of the machinery.
Inspecting and verifying that the dies and punching tools are sharp enough to do accurate punching; if necessary, he needs to use a CNC tool sharpening machine.
When using the machines, stick to the safety instructions and guidelines. I.e., put on gloves, eye and hearing protection, and any additional PPE that is prescribed.
Checking and keeping an eye on the machine to make sure nothing unexpected happens when punching.
Setting up the proper tools and loading program in the machine in accordance with the programmer provided instructions.
Checking the finished parts to ensure the quality and quantity as per the checklist if found any issues report to the supervisor for the resolution.
Separate/”pick” parts from skeletons that are cut on the machine and stack onto pallet/containers
Make sure floor is free of obstructions, maintain good housekeeping.
Maintain orderly tool area.
Safely operate forklift to load and unload material and move completed parts.
Responsible for completing paperwork associated with work performed.
Job Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of basic programming and ability to make program adjustments.
Ability to read and understand mechanical parts drawings.
Must be skilled in the maths and have excellent hand-eye coordination.
Must have 5+ years’ experience on CNC Turrets or Press Brakes or similar CNC Machinery, (Trumpf, Amada).
Select proper die clearances based on material requirements for job order.
Set up tooling, load programs and set up machine to ensure optimal performance of equipment including adjusting machine parameters for custom tools and parts.
Should have the skills required to maintain and repair the machinery in an appropriate manner, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems as well as mechanical repair.
Must be sufficiently knowledgeable about the safety rules of the machinery.
Have the basic skills to design and sketch by hand any customized sheet metal, such as shrouds.
CAD training or experience preferred.
Certified and experienced forklift operator
Job Experience
Minimum 5 years of total experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Switchgear industry.
Minimum 2 years in GCC (preferred).
