Job Description
Setting up, operating, and maintaining 5-axis milling machines and lathe machines, ensuring precision machining of metal components. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, arranging G-codes, performing machine setups, and conducting quality checks to meet production standards.
Key Responsibilities:
o Set up and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines and CNC lathes for precision metal fabrication.
o Load and secure raw materials, tooling, and fixtures.
o Adjust machine settings (speeds, feeds, and cutting depths) for optimal performance.
Familiar with tools for all stages of the CNC operation
o Interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM files.
o Input, modify, and optimize G-code programs for machining operations.
o Troubleshoot and adjust programs to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Quality Control & Inspection:
o Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
o Ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances.
o Report deviations and adjust machining processes as needed.
Maintenance & Safety:
o Conduct routine machine maintenance (lubrication, cleaning, tool replacement).
o Follow workshop safety protocols and PPE requirements.
o Report equipment malfunctions and assist in troubleshooting.
o Maintain production logs, tooling records, and job reports.
o Work with engineers, supervisors, and other machinists to improve processes.
Desired Candidate Profile
o Minimum 3+ years as a CNC Operator in metal fabrication.
o Proficiency with 5-axis milling machines and CNC lathes.
o Strong knowledge of G-code programming and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
Technical Skills:
o Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T standards.
o Familiarity with tooling, fixtures, and workpiece setup.
o Experience with precision measuring instruments.
o Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
o Strong time management and teamwork skills.
o Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
