Job Summary
The Chief Surveyor is responsible for managing and supervising all surveying activities on construction projects. The role ensures accurate setting out, survey control, and as-built measurements in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, and quality standards. The Chief Surveyor leads the survey team and coordinates with project management, consultants, and subcontractors to support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the site surveying team.
- Establish and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, and coordinate systems.
- Plan and execute setting out for civil, structural, architectural, and infrastructure works.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, measurements, and calculations.
- Review IFC drawings and coordinate survey activities with the engineering team.
- Prepare and maintain survey reports, records, and as-built drawings.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with project specifications and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Consultants, and Subcontractors.
- Monitor survey progress and provide technical support to the construction team.
- Ensure survey equipment (Total Station, GPS/GNSS, Digital Level, etc.) is properly calibrated and maintained.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate surveyors and assistant surveyors.
- Identify and resolve surveying discrepancies to prevent construction errors.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of surveying experience in construction projects.
- At least 3–5 years of experience as a Senior Surveyor or Chief Surveyor.
- Experience in building, infrastructure, road, bridge, utility, or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in Total Station, GPS/GNSS, Digital Level, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and surveying software.
- Strong knowledge of construction drawings, survey control, and as-built documentation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple survey teams and work under tight project schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) registration (for Saudi Arabia).
- Experience working with EPC or major construction contractors.
- Valid driving license.
- Familiarity with international construction and surveying standards.
