This role is based in Doha, Qatar.
We are conducting a confidential search for an accomplished Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the investment strategy, capital markets, product structuring, and investment origination activities of a growing investment platform.
The successful candidate will combine deep capital markets expertise with strong commercial and strategic leadership, overseeing the development of innovative investment solutions while driving investment transactions, institutional partnerships, and capital formation initiatives across multiple asset classes.
This role is particularly suited to senior investment banking, capital markets, structured finance, or investment platform executives who have successfully transitioned into investment leadership roles.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Strategy & Capital Markets Leadership
- Lead the firm's investment strategy across public and private markets.
- Provide strategic market views and investment recommendations to Executive Management, Investment Committee and Board.
- Drive capital allocation decisions while maintaining strong awareness of global macroeconomic and capital market developments.
- Develop investment frameworks supporting both proprietary investments and client investment solutions.
- Ensure investment governance, regulatory compliance and robust risk management standards.
Investment Product Structuring & Capital Solutions
- Lead the origination, design, structuring and launch of institutional investment products across multiple asset classes.
- Structure investment vehicles including private funds, SMAs, co-investment vehicles, structured products and bespoke institutional mandates.
- Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations and Distribution teams to successfully launch investment solutions.
- Develop innovative investment products for institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and high-net-worth clients.
- Support fundraising through product positioning, investor presentations and commercial engagement.
Transaction Origination & Execution
- Originate investment opportunities across public and private markets.
- Lead transaction evaluation, financial analysis, valuation and commercial structuring.
- Oversee due diligence, negotiation and execution of acquisitions, strategic investments and financing transactions.
- Build strong relationships with investment banks, financial sponsors, institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds and strategic partners.
- Coordinate external advisors including investment banks, legal counsel, consultants and placement agents.
Institutional Coverage & Business Development
- Build and maintain senior relationships with institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, family offices and global financial institutions.
- Support capital raising initiatives and investor engagement.
- Represent the organization with investors, regulators and industry participants.
- Enhance the firm's market positioning through strategic partnerships and investment initiatives.
Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing investment team.
- Foster a culture of commercial excellence, disciplined execution and innovation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive management and the Board on investment and capital markets matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related discipline.
- MBA, MSc Finance or equivalent preferred.
- CFA, CAIA or similar professional qualification desirable.
- 15+ years of progressive experience within investment banking, capital markets, corporate finance, structured finance, asset management or alternative investments.
- Demonstrated experience originating, structuring and executing complex investment or financing transactions.
- Strong background in capital markets, M&A, structured products, debt and equity financing or investment banking advisory.
- Experience developing investment products, investment vehicles and institutional investment solutions.
- Strong understanding of valuation, financial modelling, transaction structuring and investment risk.
- Experience working with institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and asset managers.
- Previous Investment Committee or Executive Committee experience preferred.
