The Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring Syntys’ adherence to legal, regulatory, and industry-specific compliance requirements.
The role involves establishing governance frameworks, ensuring financial and contractual compliance, and maintaining ethical and legal business operations.
The Chief Compliance Officer will collaborate with senior leadership, external regulators, and stakeholders to develop, implement, and oversee policies and controls aligned with corporate objectives, industry best practices, and evolving regulatory landscapes. The role also includes maintaining compliance systems tailored to data center environments and ensuring compliance with client-specific requirements, including those of hyperscalers and strategic partners.
ROLE
ACCOUNTABILITIES Governance & Industry Framework
- Work closely with the CEO, General Counsel, senior leadership, external regulators, and key clients to embed a strong compliance culture across the organisation.
- Develop, implement, and oversee policies, audits, monitoring, and governance frameworks that support business objectives and compliance with evolving regulatory landscapes and industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to data center operations and cybersecurity.
- Monitor regulatory changes and provide guidance to the executive team based on legal interpretations and advice provided by the Legal function.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and auditors for compliance matters, inspections, and reporting, in coordination with the Legal function on legal issues.
- Ensure compliance with customer agreements regarding data handling, security, and confidentiality.
Performance Reporting & Contractual Compliance
- Support the development of measurable compliance objectives and targets.
- Establish reporting mechanisms to monitor compliance performance and provide regular updates to senior leadership and investors.
- Conduct periodic compliance assessments and audits to evaluate effectiveness.
- Promote adherence to contracts, policies, processes, and procedures to ensure operational integrity.
Financial & Regulatory Framework
- Establish and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, financial regulations, and audit requirements.
- Provide compliance and governance review of agreements to ensure alignment with internal policies and regulatory standards, in coordination with the Legal function.
- Lead and coordinate internal and external financial audits, regulatory inspections, and assurance reviews, ensuring timely resolution of findings and implementation of corrective actions.
Employment & Labor Law Framework
- Support the implementation of compliant employment practices, policies, and training programs based on legal guidance provided by the Legal function.
- Develop and maintain employee handbooks, workplace policies, and guidelines to promote fairness and equity.
- Implement training programs on legal compliance, ethical standards, and workplace conduct.
- Act as an advisor to HR and leadership on labor-related legal matters and employee relations.
Collaboration with Corporate Governance & Ethics Department
- Collaborate with Syntys Corporate Governance Department (CGD) to promote a corporate culture of integrity, transparency, and ethical decision-making.
