  • Water Quality Management:
  • Oversee the water treatment programs for cooling water, boiler feed water, and wastewater treatment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct regular water quality tests and analyses to monitor pH levels, conductivity, alkalinity, and other chemical properties, making adjustments to treatment processes as needed
  • Chemical Analysis and Testing:
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses on various samples, including fuels, lubricants, and process fluids, to maintain optimal operating conditions
  • Develop and validate standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory analyses and chemical testing
  • Chemical Inventory and Management:
  • Manage the procurement, storage, and handling of all chemicals used in the plant, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental guidelines
  • Maintain adequate stock of all chemical consumables (bulk and fine chemicals, glassware, etc.) and dosing and testing equipment in the plant, to ensure timely availability and uninterrupted laboratory services
  • Track and document chemical usage and maintain accurate inventory records
  • HSE:
  • Adhere to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental procedures
  • Ensure that all chemical processes and waste management practices comply with environmental regulations and standards
  • Prepare required reports and documentation for environmental audits and regulatory agencies
  • Collaboration with Operations and Maintenance:
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to provide chemical insights and recommendations for optimizing plant performance and reliability
  • Participate in troubleshooting efforts and RCAs related to chemistry issues impacting plant operations
  • Safety and Training:
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the plant, ensuring that all chemical handling and laboratory practices adhere to safety protocols
  • Provide training and guidance to plant personnel on chemical safety, handling procedures, and environmental practices
  • Research and Development:
  • Stay updated on advancements in chemical processes and technologies that can enhance plant efficiency and environmental performance
  • Conduct research to develop improved chemical treatment methods and processes
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of all laboratory analyses, chemical usage, compliance checks, and results
  • Prepare periodic reports summarizing chemical performance, compliance status, and recommendations for process improvements
  • Pre-PCOD role
  • support the Owner during the design review phase and during installation, commissioning, testing, and trial operation period
  • O & M manuals Review and finalization
  • Prepare site specific procedures and Work Instructions
  • Ensure Maintenance team authorization as Permit Receivers
  • Ensure timely placement of subcontracts
  • ensure lab and chemistry management readiness for the operational period, by ensuring that all staff are trained and that all the systems and process required for O&M operations are ready

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field. A master's degree or higher may be preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in chemical analysis and laboratory operations, preferably in a power generation or industrial chemical setting

Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of chemical properties, water treatment processes, and environmental regulations pertinent to power plants.

Analytical Skills: Proficient in laboratory techniques and instrumentation for chemical analyses, including titrations, spectroscopy, chromatography, etc.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with environmental regulations related to water quality and chemical management, as well as industry best practices.
