Position: CH-47 Aircraft Mechanic

The CH-47 Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, removal, installation, replacement of, scheduled/unscheduled inspections, and operational checks on aircraft systems, subsystems, and major components.

Responsibilities

  • Removes, inspects, troubleshoots, and installs aircraft system and subsystem components and subcomponents to include, but not limited to, engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, flight controls, and hydraulics.
  • Performs schedule/unscheduled maintenance activities to include PMS, servicing and lubrication, and MOC/MTF support functions.
  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools/test equipment, and Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) and Peculiar Ground Support Equipment (PGSE).
  • Prepares, reviews, and updates aircraft maintenance forms and records.
  • Uses common measuring tools, measuring gages, and alignment fixtures.
  • Applies corrosion preventative procedures.
  • Cleans, preserves, and stores power train and rotor components.
  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on ground support equipment, common and special tools.
  • Maintains facilities for storage of returnable and hazardous materials.
  • Requisition s and maintains shop and bench stock for repair of CH-47 systems and subsystems.
  • Prepares requests for turn-in and repair parts for components.
  • Uses common measuring tools necessary for performing the tasks described herein, precision measuring tools and alignment fixtures.
  • Ensures that aircraft maintenance activities and procedures among designated organizations are planned, coordinated, integrated, and synchronized to achieve established platform operational readiness (OR) rates IAW contractual requirements.
  • Responsible for the compliance with established maintenance systems, processes, procedures and reports that provide immediate situational awareness of platform OR rates.
  • Oversees the daily maintenance management of individually assigned aircraft in support of the Maintenance Lead, in conjunction with Aviation Logistics for related platform parts and spares.
  • Works within the maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Directs inquires, investigations, and research analysis related to powertrain maintenance of the aircraft and supporting maintenance activities to the Maintenance Lead.
  • Coordinates activities and requirements for maintenance operations support with the Maintenance Lead.
  • In coordination with the PC and Maintenance Lead, supports the Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART) processes and procedures.
  • Enters data, reviews, and updates aircraft maintenance forms and records.
  • Provides On-the-Job Training (OJT), coaching, and mentoring to RSLFAC personnel in all aspects of aircraft powertrain tasks as necessary.
  • Ensures that all related maintenance operations are conducted in a safe manner.
  • Other tasks as directed by the Maintenance Lead.

Qualifications

  • Six (6) years’ experience as an aircraft mechanic on CH-47 series aircraft.
  • Successfully completed and be qualified by the appropriate U.S. Government armed forces CH-47 aircraft mechanic maintenance course or civilian equivalent training.
  • Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms or similar aviation maintenance management system, and other aircraft related documentation.
  • Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Possess a valid state or Government issued driver’s license.
  • Successfully pass an overseas deployment physical upon hire.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
