Job Purpose:
The Draughtsman (Tower Cranes) is responsible for creating, updating, and managing technical drawings and plans related to tower crane installation, operation, and maintenance. This role supports the technical team by handling drafting tasks, allowing engineers to focus on calculations and technical solutions. The position addresses frequent customer change requests by ensuring accurate and timely revisions to drawings, contributing to the successful execution of tower crane projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Drawing Preparation:
Ø Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings of tower crane layouts, components, and installation plans using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD 2D/3D, Navis works).
Ø Prepare assembly, elevation, and sectional drawings specific to tower crane configurations based on project requirements.
Drawing Updates and Modifications:
Ø Revise and update existing drawings in response to customer change requests or project adjustments, ensuring all modifications align with technical specifications.
Ø Collaborate with the technical lead to incorporate feedback and ensure accuracy.
Support for Technical Solutions:
Ø Assist engineers by providing clear and precise drawings to support crane placement, load calculations, and operational planning.
Ø Ensure drawings reflect safety standards and structural requirements for tower crane operations.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Ø Maintain an organized library of drawings, revisions, and related documentation for reference and compliance purposes.
Ø Prepare bills of materials (BOM) and specifications as needed.
Coordination:
Ø Work closely with the technical lead and site teams to understand project needs and timelines.
Ø Respond promptly to urgent requests for drawing updates, adapting to the fast-paced work environment typical in the Middle East.
Compliance and Standards:
Ø Ensure all drawings comply with local regulations (e.g., Saudi Building Code, UAE standards) and international standards for tower cranes (e.g., EN 14439).
Ø Incorporate safety and operational guidelines into designs.
Qualifications:
Education:
Ø Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
Ø Certification in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Certified Professional) is an advantage.
Experience:
Ø Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a draughtsman, preferably in construction, heavy machinery, or crane-related projects.
Ø Experience with tower cranes or similar equipment is highly desirable.
Certifications:
Ø Training in technical drawing standards or crane-specific design software (optional but beneficial).
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills:
Ø Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Navisworks) for 2D and 3D drafting.
Ø Understanding of tower crane components, assembly, and operational requirements.
Ø Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
Soft Skills:
Ø Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.
Ø Ability to work under pressure and adapt to frequent change requests.
Ø Good communication skills to collaborate with engineers and site teams.
Language:
Ø Fluency in English (written and spoken); Arabic is an advantage for KSA/UAE contexts.
Other:
Ø Familiarity with construction practices in the Middle East is a plus.
Ø Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Timeliness and accuracy of drawing submissions and revisions.
Number of change requests successfully addressed per week/month.
Reduction in rework time for the technical lead due to drafting support.
Compliance of drawings with project specifications and safety standards.
Working Conditions:
Environment: Office-based with occasional site visits to verify crane layouts or gather data.
Schedule: Standard hours with flexibility to accommodate urgent project demands.
Travel: May require travel within KSA or UAE depending on project locations.

Competitive salary based on experience and location UAE market rates)
