Role Overview

We are looking for a high-impact Business Development Manager with strong industry connections in the petroleum, dry bulk, or container trade segments to drive adoption of BlockPeer’s digital trade and financing solutions.

This is a front-line role focused on:

  • Onboarding corporates onto our eTrade platform (eBL + LC ePresentation)
  • Driving financing flows through our trade finance marketplace (Cliq)
  • Expanding our network of NBFCs and alternative financiers

Key Responsibilities

1. Corporate Onboarding (eTrade Platform)

  • Identify and onboard exporters, importers, traders, and logistics players
  • Drive adoption of eBLs and LC ePresentation workflows
  • Educate clients on legal validity, interoperability, and ROI (faster turnaround, working capital efficiency)

2. Trade Finance Origination (Cliq Marketplace)

  • Source SME commodity traders requiring working capital
  • Structure and onboard financing requests backed by trade documents (eBLs, ePNs, invoices)
  • Work closely with internal teams to facilitate deal execution

3. Lender / NBFC Network Development

  • Onboard NBFCs, private credit funds, and alternative lenders
  • Build financing pipelines and establish credit lines for marketplace participants
  • Maintain active engagement with financiers to drive deal flow

4. Partnerships & Ecosystem Building

  • Build relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, brokers, and trade intermediaries
  • Collaborate with banks and fintech partners for LC ePresentation adoption
  • Represent BlockPeer in trade associations and industry forums

5. Events & Market Expansion

  • Represent BlockPeer at global commodity and trade finance events (e.g., GTR, APAC Commodity Week, etc.)
  • Generate leads and partnerships through conferences and industry networks

Requirements

5–10+ years of experience in:

  • Commodity trading (petroleum / dry bulk / container trade), OR
  • Trade finance (banks, NBFCs, fintech), OR
  • Shipping / logistics with strong commercial exposure

Strong network across:

  • Commodity traders / SMEs
  • Trade finance providers (banks, NBFCs, funds)

Solid understanding of:

  • Trade finance instruments (LCs, BoL, invoices, promissory notes)
  • Commodity trade flows and documentation

Proven track record in business development / deal origination

Based in Dubai or willing to relocate
