Job Description:

The Business Development Manager is a senior-management role designed to integratestrategic leadershipwithcommunity engagement, essential for advancing the mission of the Libraries Commission initiative aimed at fostering community growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the library while meticulously managing the institution’s budget and resources. They will spearhead the development and implementation of effective policies that align the library’s goals with its overarching vision.

A pivotal aspect of this role includes cultivating robust relationships with government entities, legislative bodies, and educational institutions to enhance the library’s service offerings and collections. Thisdynamicleader will also drive public service initiatives, ensuring the delivery of exceptional programs that meet community needs. Additionally, they will mentor and develop library staff, fostering acollaborativeand productivework environmentthat empowers excellence in service delivery.

Job Requirements:

A minimum of 7 years of professional experience, preferably with significant library-related exposure.

A bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a closely related field;advanced degreesare strongly preferred.

Proven experience instrategic planningandbudget managementwith demonstrable results.

Extensive background in developing and implementing policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency.

Strong track record of supervisingdiverseteams, driving them toward achieving strategic objectives.

Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations.

Experience in recommending and implementing improvements to service offerings and library collections for increasedcommunity impact.

Solid understanding of collection management and operations, ensuring compliance with Collection Development Management Policies.

Capacity to analyze data and utilize insights to make informed decisions that benefit library users and the broader community.

Job Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations of the library, ensuring compliance with established policies and strategic objectives.

Lead the development and execution of the library’s strategic plan, aligning resources and initiatives with its vision and mission.

Manage the library’s budget, making strategic financial decisions that optimizeresource allocationand operational efficacy.

Formulate, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures that enhance library operations and service delivery.

Cultivate strategic partnerships with government entities, legislation representatives, and educational institutions to enhance program offerings.

Drive public service initiatives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and programs tailored to community needs.

Mentor and develop library staff, fostering acollaborative environmentconducive toprofessional growthandteamwork.

Analyze community needs and preferences to recommend improvements in service offerings, collections, and outreach efforts.

Ensure operational compliance with Collection Development Management Policies while effectively managing collection operations.

Utilize data analytics to assess library performance and informstrategic decision-makingprocesses.
