About the Role
We are hiring a Bunker Trader to originate and execute marine fuel transactions MGO/VLSFO/HSFO) across key ports.
This is a front-office, revenue-driven role responsible for client acquisition and deal execution, with full ownership of the trade lifecycle from inquiry to delivery and collection.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Origination
- Source and close bunker deals with:
- Shipowners, operators, charterers
- Brokers and trading counterparties
- Develop and expand a client portfolio across regional and international markets
Pricing & Execution
- Quote competitive prices
- Supply-demand dynamics and port conditions
- Negotiate commercial terms (price, credit, delivery window)
- Execute trades from inquiry → nomination → delivery → invoicing
Supply & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- Physical suppliers
- Barge operators
- Inspectors and agents
- Ensure smooth delivery and resolve operational issues / claims
Risk & Credit Management
- Assess counterparty credit risk and adhere to approved limits
- Monitor exposure and ensure timely payment collection
- Manage price exposure where applicable (basic hedging awareness preferred)
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in bunker trading / oil trading / shipping
- Proven track record of closing deals and generating margin
- Existing client and supplier network is a strong advantage
Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong understanding of:
- Marine fuels (MGO, VLSFO, HSFO)
- Bunkering operations and delivery process
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Commercial mindset with ability to price and close deals quickly
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving trading environment
Success Profile
- Brings active client relationships (not starting from zero)
- Able to generate consistent monthly volume and margin
- Strong follow-up from deal initiation to cash collection
- Comfortable handling disputes, claims, and operational challenges
