We are seeking a skilled and experiencedBanner Student Information System (SIS) Administratorto manage, configure, and maintain the Banner SIS platform. This critical role involves supporting academic and administrative processes, ensuring system reliability, and collaborating with various departments to enhance the system’s functionality and efficiency.
Job Description
As aBanner SIS Administrator
, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Banner Student Information System, including its Oracle database backend, system integrations, and user support. You will oversee system upgrades, data security, and compliance while working closely with internal teams and vendors to optimize system performance and support institutional objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Manage and maintainBanner SIS modules
, including Student Records, Registration, Admissions, Financial Aid, and Grades.
OverseeOracle database management
, including performance tuning, backups, and troubleshooting.
Configure and customize workflows, business rules, and processes within Banner SIS to align with institutional policies.
Integrate Banner SIS with other systems usingAPIs, middleware (Ellucian Ethos), and SSO/LDAP protocols
.
Monitor system performance, resolve incidents, and manage tickets within IT service management tools.
Conduct periodicsystem audits, updates, patches, and version upgradesto ensure optimal performance and security.
Develop and implementdisaster recovery plans
, ensuring regular backups and system restoration capabilities.
Provide Level 2/3 technical support for Banner SIS-related issues, collaborating with IT teams and Ellucian support as needed.
Generate reports using tools likeArgos, Oracle Reports
, or SQL to deliver actionable insights for academic and administrative teams.
Create and update system documentation, including configurations, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Lead or participate in Banner SIS projects, including module implementations and system integrations.
Conduct end-user training sessions and provide ongoing support to faculty, staff, and students.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years ofhands-on experienceas aBanner SIS Administrator
.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge ofBanner SIS modulesand Oracle database architecture.
Proficiency inSQL and PL/SQLfor querying, data extraction, and report generation.
Experience withserver management
, system installation, and configuration in Linux or Windows environments.
Expertise insystem integration
, including APIs, middleware, and file transfer protocols.
Knowledge ofdata security and compliance regulations(e.g., FERPA).
Key Skills
Strong analytical andproblem-solving skillsfor diagnosing and resolving system issues.
Excellentcommunication skillsto collaborate with stakeholders and translate technical concepts for non-technical users.
Project managementskills to oversee system upgrades, integrations, and new implementations.
Vendor management experience for engaging with Ellucian and third-party system providers.
