A Business Aircraft Aviation Accountant is responsible for managing the financial activities related to operating either owned or charter business aircraft / private jets. The role involves specialized knowledge in accounting for operations, purchasing, charter, maintenance, payback, crew expenses, and salaries related to business aircraft. It also requires knowledge of aviation activities, ensuring compliance with aviation-specific financial regulations, and managing costs associated with high-value assets.
General
Responsibilities :
Operational Cost Management: Track and review monthly invoices related to the operation of owned aircraft, including crew salaries, fuel, crew expenses, maintenance, insurance, catering, etc., processing vendor and service supplier invoices and payments. Verify and reconcile invoices with flights and operational requirements, ensure timely payments, and maintain accurate transaction records.
Flights Payback: Generate and send internal invoices for approval after trip completion, monitor registration, and follow accounts.
Cash Float Reconciliation: Monthly or as requested, adjust floats for drivers and aircraft.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and monitor budgets for aircraft operation, maintenance, and upgrades; create financial forecasts based on expected usage.
Aircraft Acquisition & Ownership Accounting: Manage financial records related to purchase, leasing, and ownership, including depreciation, leasing terms, financing payments, and interest.
Audit Preparation: Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring record accuracy related to aircraft operations and ownership.
Cost Control: Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs.
Financial Reporting: Prepare regular reports providing insights into cost-efficiency of aircraft operations.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Professional certifications in aviation accounting and relevant courses are a plus.
3-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in aviation operations, commercial airlines, or private aircraft sectors.
Good experience with financial aspects of aircraft operations, charter, acquisition, and maintenance.
Familiarity with aviation industry operations, maintenance, technologies, terminology, and abbreviations.
Skills:
Financial expertise in aircraft operational expenses.
Attention to detail for managing high-value assets and compliance.
Strong analytical skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Knowledge of aviation tax laws, depreciation, use tax, and deductions.
Proficiency with financial software such as portals, Oracle, Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication skills for liaising with owners, executives, and stakeholders.
Problem-solving capacity for financial issues and regulatory changes.
Other Requirements:
Knowledge of aircraft operations, chartering, contracts, and fractional ownership.
Understanding of aviation tax rules and high-value aircraft operations.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
