Job Title: DOH Compliance Auditor / Healthcare Inspector (Clinics)
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Job Summary
The DOH Compliance Auditor is responsible for conducting comprehensive inspections and audits of healthcare clinics to ensure compliance with Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH) regulations, standards, and guidelines. The role focuses on evaluating clinical practices, patient safety measures, facility readiness, and regulatory adherence, while identifying gaps and supporting corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities:- Regulatory Compliance & Licensing
- Conduct inspections to verify compliance with DOH licensing requirements for facilities and healthcare professionals
- Ensure services provided align with approved scope of practice
- Monitor implementation of DOH circulars, policies, and regulatory updates
Clinical Quality & Patient Safety
- Assess adherence to clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices
- Evaluate patient identification, informed consent, and documentation processes
- Review incident reporting systems and patient safety protocols
Medical Records & Documentation
- Audit patient records for completeness, accuracy, and confidentiality
- Ensure compliance with documentation and coding standards
- Verify proper use of electronic medical record systems
Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)
- Inspect hygiene practices, sterilization, and disinfection processes
- Evaluate biomedical waste management compliance
- Monitor PPE usage and infection control protocols
Medication Management
- Audit medication storage, labeling, and inventory control
- Review handling of controlled substances and prescription practices
- Ensure compliance with expiry tracking and temperature monitoring
Facility Safety & Environment
- Inspect clinic infrastructure, cleanliness, and maintenance
- Verify fire safety systems, emergency exits, and safety compliance
- Ensure availability and readiness of emergency equipment (e.g., crash cart, AED)
Staff Competency & Training
- Review staff credentials, licensing, and privileging records
- Assess ongoing training programs (e.g., BLS, infection control)
- Evaluate staff awareness of policies and procedures
Equipment & Biomedical Compliance
- Verify preventive maintenance and calibration of medical equipment
- Ensure proper documentation and safe usage of devices
Patient Rights & Experience
- Ensure patient rights are displayed and respected
- Review complaint handling and patient feedback systems
- Assess privacy and confidentiality practices
Insurance & Coding Compliance
- Audit clinical coding and billing practices
- Identify potential fraud, waste, or abuse risks
- Ensure alignment with payer and e-claims requirements
Emergency Preparedness
- Evaluate emergency response plans and protocols
- Ensure staff readiness and training for emergencies
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings and risk ratings
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Conduct follow-up audits to ensure closure of identified gaps
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Professional certification in healthcare quality or auditing is an advantage
Experience
- 3–7 years of experience in healthcare quality, compliance, or auditing
- Experience with DOH regulations and clinic inspection standards in Abu Dhabi
- Prior experience in accreditation (e.g., JCI) is a plus

- Strong knowledge of DOH standards and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent auditing, analytical, and reporting skills

- Ability to identify risks and recommend practical solutions
Preferred Experience
- Direct involvement in DOH inspections or regulatory audits
- Experience in infection control, patient safety, or clinical governance
- Familiarity with healthcare insurance auditing and coding compliance
- Experience working in multi-specialty clinics or outpatient facilities
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Compliance rate across inspected clinics
- Number of audits completed vs. plan
- Closure rate of audit findings within defined timelines
- Reduction in repeated non-compliance issues
