Assistant Manager – Underwriting
To actively support and service Marine Hull, Yacht clients and Underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet targets in accordance with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority
Management of underwriting functions on a daily basis and proper guidance and assistance to subordinates.
Assist the Head of Unit – Marine U/W in development of the portfolio profitably.
Accept, reject, underwrite, and price marine business in accordance with the Company’s underwriting standards.
Effective communications with management over issues and activities associated with marine business.
Provide accurate instructions to the OP’s to insure the final policy documents are correct.
Manage all of the underwriting related processes independently. Ensure the processes are coordinated to insure proper service for customers and agents.
Review and evaluate profit, volume, and service results for marine producers.
Develop and maintain productive long-term agency relationships.
Be able to work both independently and remotely.
Keep abreast of market trends, competitors’ philosophy, products, and distributions systems
Educational Qualifications
Recognized University Degree
Fellow level professional qualification in insurance/actuarial work (such as ACII,FCII, CIP) from a recognized body
Additional years of experience could substitute for the needed level of education
Good communications skills in English
Computer literate – MS Words, Excel & Power point
Experience:
Must be employed in the insurance business for at least 8 years
5 years in local and international insurance business with experience in Marine Hull and Cargo department
Preferably with 3 years experience in managerial position
Skills Required:
Proven capability of underwriting in Marine Hull and Cargo business.
Adhere to underwriting guidelines and company policies and procedures.
Advanced analytical skills, negotiating and marketing capabilities.
