Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (online degrees / diplomas are not accepted)
Current Nursing (RN) license in North America, Western Europe, or Australia / New Zealand
Specialty qualification related to area of expertise required. Evidence must be provided.
Minimum of four years of current experience as an RN, including at least one year of teaching / preceptoring experience in the specialty area, working in a mid- to large-size acute-care hospital setting in North America, Western Europe, or Australia / New Zealand.
Department Information
This is a 10-bed unit catering to children from birth to 13.9 years old.
The patients have various diagnoses across all body systems, including cardiac. The patient profile includes both medical and surgical cases.
All nursing staff in this unit should have the following basic skills and experiences:
Childhood Development:
Psychosocial, Cognitive, Psychosexual, and Moral
Childhood Appropriate Assessment and intervention
Hospitalization:
Implications and Interventions
Death and Dying
Safety Checks
Preparing a room for admission
Pre- and post-operative care
Knowledge of Total Parental Nutrition (TPN) / Oro-nasogastric
A minimum of two years of experience in a pediatric or neonatal ICU
If no ICU experience, then a minimum of two years in an acute care pediatric setting. These staff can undergo a fundamental orientation program to work in PICU.
Courses in ECG, Hemodynamic, and Mechanical Ventilation are considered beneficial.
