Job Title: Assistant Electrician – Offshore Jackup Rig
Location: Offshore Qatar (North Field Expansion, Halul Island, or Contracted Rigs)
Employment Type: Rotational (42/21)
Reporting To: Chief Electrician / Electrical Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintenance & troubleshooting of HV/LV switch gear (Siemens, ABB)
- Drilling equipment circuits (VFDs, top drives, drawworks)
- Emergency systems (UPS, batteries, lighting)
- Jacking system controls (PLC panels, motor starters)
- Perform thermal imaging checks on electrical panels
- Conduct insulation resistance tests on motors/cables
- Replace contractors, relays, and breakers
- Follow Qatar Energy (QP) electrical safety standards
- Adhere to ATEX/IECEx protocols in hazardous zones
- Implement LOTO (Lockout‑Tagout) procedures
- Support blackout recovery and equipment failures
- Participate in electrical fire drills
Requirements, Qualifications & Certifications
- Mandatory:
Diploma in Electrical Engineering or 2+ years offshore experience - BOSIET/FOET with HUET (Offshore Survival & Helicopter Escape)
- Qatar Ministry of Public Health Medical Certificate
- Preferred: COMPEX (Ex01-Ex04) for hazardous areas
- Preferred: HV/LV Switching Certification
- Preferred: PLC/VFD troubleshooting skills
Benefits
Day Rates in Qatar (2025): $180 – 200 per day.
