The Assistant Banquet Manager supports the Banquet Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing banquet and event operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences. The role involves supervising banquet staff, maintaining service standards, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring the successful execution of events such as weddings, conferences, corporate functions, and social gatherings.
Key Responsibilities
Event Operations
- Assist in the planning and execution of banquet events according to client requirements and company standards.
- Coordinate event setup, service, and breakdown activities.
- Ensure banquet rooms are prepared according to event orders and specifications.
- Monitor event progress and address operational issues promptly.
Team Supervision
- Supervise banquet staff during events and daily operations.
- Assist with staff scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Conduct pre-event briefings to communicate event details and service expectations.
- Ensure team members adhere to grooming, hygiene, and safety standards.
Guest Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service and respond to guest requests professionally.
- Handle guest complaints and resolve issues efficiently.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and event organizers during functions.
Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with kitchen, stewarding, housekeeping, engineering, and sales teams to ensure smooth event execution.
- Review banquet event orders (BEOs) and communicate requirements to relevant departments.
- Participate in event planning meetings and operational briefings.
Financial & Administrative Duties
- Monitor banquet labor costs and operational expenses.
- Assist in inventory control of banquet equipment, linens, and supplies.
- Support billing verification and event documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and budget guidelines.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet facilities.
- Report maintenance issues and safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in banquet operations, food & beverage service, or event management.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
