Position Purpose
The Art Teacher is responsible for facilitating the learning of students in their class and ensuring that they progress in line with school and curriculum expectations while in a safe and happy environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Use excellent subject knowledge, pedagogic and interpersonal skills to enthuse students and enable them to enjoy learning.
- Plan lessons taking into full account students’ individual learning needs as well as their learning styles, preferences and capabilities.
- Deliver a programme of learning opportunities and activities to enrich and enhance the taught curriculum.
- Engage and motivate students to achieve at levels beyond their expectations and previous limits.
- Encourage and enable all students to become effective, confident and independent lifelong learners.
- Make full use of ICT and new technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for students of all ages and attainment levels.
- Observe, assess and record each child’s progress as per school policy.
- Ensure the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities.
- Co‑operate with colleagues to establish and maintain fair, consistent and positive behavior management in the classroom, around the school and on school trips.
- Communicate openly and professionally with parents on a regular basis about the attainment and progress of their child.
- Maintain high levels of confidentiality when speaking to parents and external parties.
- Contribute to and plan after‑school activities as required.
- Actively support the school partnership with the community by attending school community events which may occasionally occur at weekends or in the evening.
- Maintain excellent professional relationships with colleagues by contributing to the continuing improvement of the school.
- Contribute to a culture where teachers view themselves as facilitators of learning and are reflective practitioners.
- Participate in ongoing in‑service and education development opportunities.
- Other responsibilities as reasonably requested.
Professional Duties and Responsibilities
- Embed UAE heritage and culture within the curriculum.
- Plan and prepare schemes of work and complete planning documentation.
- Teach with consistent effectiveness the students in each class, taking full account of all students’ individual educational needs.
- Set and mark work to be carried out by the students in school, at home and elsewhere as appropriate.
- Make records of and reports on the personal and social needs of students.
- Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of the students in each class.
- Provide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students or groups.
- Guide students to set targets to improve on their previous best.
- Advise and co‑operate with the school leadership team and other colleagues on the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching schemes, methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral arrangements.
- Participate in arrangements for further training and professional development as a teacher.
- Represent yourself as a school ambassador and maintain a professional image.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
- A recognized teaching qualification, e.g. Qualified Teacher Status.
- Preferably two years teaching experience.
- Native English speaker, or able to demonstrate an IELTS level of 6 or higher.
- Experience in American curriculum would be an advantage.
- Prior experience teaching in an international setting would be an advantage.
- Demonstrate professionalism, commitment and integrity.

- Innovative, motivated, resourceful, flexible, patient and persevering.
- Outgoing, positive and enthusiastic.
- Good spoken communication skills.
Job Requirements
- Eligible candidates:
Certified teacher. - Minimum education:
Bachelor’s degree in teaching.
- Teaching experience: 2+ years.
- Licenses & certifications:
Teaching credential/license.
