Position: ANESTHESIA TECHNOLOGIST
Summary
Prepares, assembles, and calibrates anesthesia equipment and assists the anesthesiologist in daily duties.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepares, sets up, and checks all anesthesia-related equipment including anesthesia machines, physiological monitors, transducers, TEE, and paediatric and adult carts.
- Labels and administers anesthesia-related medications under the direct supervision of the anesthesiologist and as prescribed.
- Assists in the preparation and execution of anesthesia procedures, including general, regional, and local anesthesia, invasive and non-invasive monitoring, chemotherapy, blood transfusion, and organ transplantation as required.
- Ensures the availability and readiness of all required drugs, infusion fluids, supplies, and anesthesia equipment before and during surgical procedures.
- Documents anesthesia-related data accurately in the anesthesia chart under the supervision of the anesthesiologist following completion of required training and competency assessment.
- Assists the anesthesiologist during anesthesia induction, including manual ventilation and intubation, as required and under supervision.
- Supports the anesthesiologist during emergency situations, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, trauma cases, and activation of the major disaster plan.
- Verifies blood and blood products with the anesthesiologist and administers them under supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Collects, inspects, cleans, and prepares anesthesia equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
- Maintains anesthesia equipment and reports any malfunction or safety concerns promptly to ensure uninterrupted clinical operations.
- Adheres to infection control, patient safety, and quality standards while handling anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Performs additional anesthesia-related duties as assigned to support safe and effective patient care.
- Follows all hospital-related policies and procedures.
- Participates in self and others’ research, education, training, and development as applicable.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education
Bachelor’s or Associate Degree. Diploma in Anaesthesia is required.
Experience Required
- Grade 08: 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s, or 4 years with an Associate Degree/Diploma.
- Grade 09: 4 years as an Anesthesia Technologist at KFSHRC, or Grade 08 related experience is required.
- Average of annual performance appraisal at least 3.5 for the last four years.
- 50 hours of cumulative continued medical education (CME).
Other Requirements
- Current registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
