The AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Analyst is responsible for analyzing smart meter data, monitoring AMI system performance, and providing insights to support utility operations. The role focuses on data validation, performance analysis, reporting, and identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for operational improvement to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of metering systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze AMI and smart meter data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
- Monitor system performance and identify trends, anomalies, communication issues, and data quality concerns.
- Perform data validation, estimation, and editing (VEE) processes to maintain data integrity.
- Generate and maintain operational, regulatory, and management reports related to meter performance and energy consumption.
- Investigate meter data discrepancies and coordinate with operational and field teams to resolve issues.
- Support billing, customer service, and operational departments by providing meter data analysis and insights.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor AMI system effectiveness.
- Assist in the testing, implementation, and enhancement of AMI and Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS).
- Conduct root cause analysis of system and data-related issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with utility standards, data governance policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven recommendations and process optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in data analysis, preferably within AMI or utility systems
- Knowledge of AMI architecture, smart metering systems, and Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS).
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- Experience with utility operations, energy consumption analysis, and meter data validation is preferred.
- Ability to work with large datasets and translate findings into actionable business insights.
