The Role

We are seeking an experienced Alumni Engagement Manager to lead alumni relationship management, engagement programmes, events, communications, community development, volunteer initiatives, and alumni participation strategies. The ideal candidate will develop innovative programmes that strengthen alumni connections, increase participation, support institutional objectives, and create a vibrant global alumni network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive alumni engagement strategies, annual plans, programmes, campaigns, and long-term relationship-building initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with alumni across different regions, industries, career stages, graduation years, and professional backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with Advancement, Fundraising, Communications, Marketing, Events, Career Services, Student Affairs, Development, Data Analytics, Admissions, and Executive Leadership.
  • Develop alumni programmes including networking events, professional development sessions, mentoring programmes, reunions, regional chapters, volunteer initiatives, webinars, leadership programmes, and community activities.
  • Plan and manage alumni events, conferences, reunions, networking receptions, career events, regional gatherings, virtual programmes, and institutional celebrations.
  • Establish and grow regional, professional, industry, affinity, and interest-based alumni networks and communities.
  • Develop alumni volunteer programmes covering mentorship, career support, student engagement, admissions outreach, speaking opportunities, community service, institutional advocacy, and fundraising.
  • Create alumni communications strategies covering newsletters, email campaigns, social media, digital communities, publications, event communications, and personalized engagement campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate alumni records and engagement data while supporting data quality, privacy, consent, segmentation, and relationship-management requirements.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) including alumni participation, event attendance, volunteer engagement, membership growth, communication engagement, chapter activity, mentorship participation, donor conversion, retention, and overall engagement rates.
  • Analyze alumni engagement data to identify participation trends, inactive segments, high-value relationships, regional opportunities, professional networks, and new programme opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to increase alumni participation through personalized communications, digital communities, exclusive benefits, career services, lifelong learning, networking opportunities, and targeted engagement programmes.
  • Coordinate alumni career initiatives including mentoring, professional networking, job-sharing programmes, industry panels, entrepreneurship activities, and career development events.
  • Support advancement and fundraising teams by identifying alumni prospects, cultivating relationships, supporting stewardship activities, and developing engagement pathways for potential donors.
  • Develop partnerships with alumni associations, professional organizations, employers, industry leaders, community organizations, educational institutions, and strategic partners.
  • Manage alumni programme budgets, event suppliers, communication platforms, digital communities, consultants, sponsorships, venues, and service providers.
  • Drive digital transformation through artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted alumni segmentation, predictive engagement analytics, personalized communications, automated event recommendations, digital networking platforms, and intelligent relationship management.
  • Utilize Salesforce, Blackbaud, Ellucian, Anthology, Microsoft Dynamics, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Tableau, CRM platforms, alumni engagement platforms, event-management systems, and digital community technologies.
  • Prepare executive alumni engagement reports, participation dashboards, campaign analyses, event performance reports, regional engagement assessments, relationship-development plans, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop alumni relations officers, engagement coordinators, event specialists, communications professionals, volunteer coordinators, and cross-functional teams while fostering a culture of community, inclusion, service, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Education, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Alumni Relations, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Education Management, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is highly advantageous.
  • Professional certifications or memberships in alumni relations, advancement, fundraising, higher education, nonprofit management, communications, or related fields are preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in alumni relations, higher education advancement, community engagement, fundraising, nonprofit management, events, communications, or related roles.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing alumni programmes, engagement teams, community initiatives, events, volunteer networks, or multidisciplinary relationship-management programmes preferred.
  • Strong understanding of alumni engagement, community development, relationship management, event planning, volunteer programmes, communications, fundraising support, CRM management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Blackbaud, Ellucian, Anthology, Microsoft Dynamics, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Tableau, CRM systems, alumni platforms, event-management technologies, and digital community tools.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered engagement analytics, predictive alumni modelling, personalized communications, automated campaign management, digital networking, virtual events, and next-generation community engagement technologies is highly advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, communication, event management, project management, stakeholder engagement, analytical, organizational, fundraising-support, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple alumni engagement initiatives while balancing community needs, institutional priorities, event budgets, communication schedules, data quality, privacy requirements, participation targets, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with distributed alumni, advancement, communications, fundraising, events, career services, marketing, data, and executive teams, with occasional travel for alumni events, reunions, conferences, regional gatherings, institutional programmes, and strategic meetings as required.
