Business Unit Overview

The Labs Practice is PwC Middle East’s innovation space where we rapidly prototype and build proof-of-concepts around emerging technologies, with a primary focus on AI and immersive technology applications. Our team transforms innovative ideas into working demos that showcase the art of the possible for our clients.

How You’ll Contribute

  • As an Associate, Software Engineer, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, supporting the design, development, and testing of AI-driven prototypes, demos, and experimental solutions within the Labs Practice. You'll learn from senior engineers and innovation leads while building hands-on experience with emerging technologies. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in building and testing AI-powered prototypes and demos under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Experiment with new tools, frameworks, and platforms and share findings with the team.
  • Help translate conceptual ideas into working components of larger demonstrations.
  • Participate in ideation sessions, design sprints, and innovation workshops.
  • Support client engagements, workshops, and experience center tours alongside senior team members.
  • Support the setup, preparation, and reset of the lab space for client visits, tours, workshops, and internal events.
  • Ensure lab equipment, devices, and prototyping materials are properly stored, maintained, and ready for use.
  • Develop your ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Stay curious about emerging technologies, AI advancements, and industry trends.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, documentation, and research initiatives.
  • Including such other duties that may be assigned to you by your manager.

What You’ll Bring

  • 0–3 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, or a strong portfolio of academic, personal, or open-source projects demonstrating hands-on ability. New graduates with compelling project work are encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies.
  • Collaborative team player with good communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow quickly.
  • Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity in fast-paced environments.
  • Customer-focused mindset.

Technical Skills

  • Working proficiency in Python.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and exposure to at least one popular LLM API (e.g., GPT, Claude, Gemini) through work, coursework, or personal projects.
  • Awareness of common frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) — depth not required, but you should be eager to learn.
  • Front-end or back-end development capabilities; exposure to full stack is a plus.
  • Familiarity with React (Next.js) and Tailwind CSS is a plus.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs.
  • Version control using Git.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted coding tools.
  • Exposure to Docker, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), or DevOps practices is a plus but not expected.

Soft Skills

  • Eager to collaborate with technologists, researchers, and business stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in agile, fast-paced environments.
  • Developing communication skills, with a willingness to present and explain concepts.
  • Interested in client-facing work, including supporting demos and lab tours.
  • Proactive, curious, and adaptable.
  • Reliable in delivering quality work on time.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required; Arabic is preferred.
