Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. This individual will be responsible for processing purchase invoices related to imports, posting expense entries, performing daily inter-company reconciliations, handling creditors’ reconciliations, and managing the Statement of Accounts (SOA) for payments. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent reconciliation skills, and experience with import transactions and expense accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Purchase Invoice (Import):

Invoice Verification: Review and verify purchase invoices for imports, ensuring that they are accurate, complete, and comply with company policies and procedures.
Posting Purchase Invoices: Post all import-related purchase invoices into the accounting system, ensuring correct coding and allocation to the appropriate accounts and cost centers.
Vendor Communication: Liaise with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies related to import invoices or payments.

2. Expense Entries:

Expense Posting: Record all company expenses, ensuring timely and accurate entry into the accounting system. Ensure that expenses are classified correctly in line with budget codes and accounting policies.
Expense Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile expense accounts to ensure accuracy and proper classification of expenses.
Expense Reporting: Assist in preparing periodic expense reports for management review and financial analysis.

3. Inter-Company Reconciliation:

Inter-Company Transaction Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations for inter-company transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness across all entities. This includes verifying balances, transactions, and ensuring alignment between the accounts of related companies.
Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies between inter-company accounts by working closely with internal teams and other divisions to ensure proper accounting treatment.

4. Creditors Reconciliation:

Creditors’ Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the creditors’ ledger and ensure that all creditor balances are up to date and accurate.
Monthly Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of creditor accounts to ensure all balances are reconciled and that there are no discrepancies.
Communication with Creditors: Communicate with creditors to resolve any outstanding issues or discrepancies and ensure timely payments.

5. Statement of Accounts (SOA) for Payments:

Payment Follow-Up: Prepare and manage Statements of Accounts (SOA) for payments, ensuring that all payments due are accounted for and communicated to the finance team for processing.
Payment Verification: Verify payment details against the SOA to ensure all payments are accurate and in line with agreed terms.
Vendor Payment Records: Maintain an organized record of payment transactions for future reference and audits.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on purchase invoices, expense entries, and reconciliations.
Experience with Imports: Experience in handling import transactions and dealing with import-related purchase invoices and costs.
Solid understanding of accounting principles, including accounts payable and expense management.
Strong knowledge of inter-company reconciliation processes and creditors’ reconciliation.
Excel Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic functions, VLOOKUP, and PivotTables for reporting and analysis.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
