Role Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring full compliance with UAE tax regulations, and supporting the monthly financial reporting cycle. The ideal candidate brings hands-on UAE accounting experience, a strong command of VAT and Corporate Tax requirements, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely posting of journal entries
- Perform month-end and year-end close procedures including accruals, prepayments, and provisions
- Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inter-company balances
- Manage fixed asset register and process monthly depreciation entries
- Prepare and maintain schedules for inventory, investments, and other balance sheet items
VAT & Corporate Tax
- Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns in compliance with UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) requirements
- Maintain VAT records, reconcile VAT control accounts, and respond to FTA queries
- Support Corporate Tax computations and filings in accordance with UAE CT Law (effective FY2023 onward)
- Monitor changes in UAE tax legislation and ensure timely updates to internal processes
- Coordinate with external tax advisors as required
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process supplier invoices, payment runs, and reconcile vendor statements
- Monitor customer receivables ageing, follow up on overdue collections, and maintain credit control records
- Prepare monthly AP and AR ageing reports for management review
Financial Reporting
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
- Provide variance analysis against budget and prior-year comparatives
- Support preparation of the Monthly Performance Report (MIS) presented to the Board
- Liaise with external auditors during annual audit and provide required schedules and documentation
Cash & Banking
- Monitor daily bank balances and prepare bank reconciliations
- Process and record fixed deposit transactions and accrue interest income on a monthly basis
- Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Professional qualification & certifications.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in the UAE (mandatory)
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, trading, or industrial company is an advantage
- Proven hands-on experience with UAE VAT returns and FTA compliance
- Familiarity with UAE Corporate Tax Law and its practical application
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (ERP systems; experience with Tally, SAP, Oracle, or similar is an advantage)
- Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modelling)
- Sound understanding of IFRS accounting standards
- Experience with fixed deposit accounting and investment schedules is a plus
Soft Skills
- High attention to detail and strong analytical mindset
- Ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy
- Good communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage)
- Self-driven with the ability to work with minimal supervision
