Job Purpose
The Access Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and supervising temporary access systems and solutions required for safe and efficient construction activities. The role involves ensuring that access arrangements comply with project specifications, engineering standards, health and safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review access plans for construction activities, including scaffolding, temporary platforms, walkways, ladders, stairs, ramps, and other access systems.
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, method statements, risk assessments, and technical submissions for access systems.
- Coordinate with structural, civil, architectural, MEP, and construction teams to ensure access solutions are practical and compatible with the project design.
- Inspect access systems and temporary structures to verify stability, compliance, and safe use.
- Monitor installation, modification, and dismantling of access systems at site.
- Ensure all access works comply with approved drawings, engineering standards, project specifications, and HSE requirements.
- Review subcontractor proposals, shop drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Identify potential access constraints and develop safe and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
- Maintain records of inspections, approvals, modifications, and engineering documentation.
- Support project teams in planning construction sequences and temporary works requirements.
- Participate in site meetings, technical reviews, inspections, and progress meetings.
- Ensure work is executed in accordance with company quality, safety, and environmental procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant engineering certification or professional registration is preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant construction experience, preferably with a major contractor or large-scale infrastructure/building project.
- Experience with temporary works, scaffolding, access systems, or construction methodology is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety standards and temporary works requirements.
Technical Skills
- AutoCAD and/or relevant engineering design software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of scaffolding and temporary access systems.
- Understanding of structural principles and temporary works design.
- Strong knowledge of risk assessments and method statements.
- Familiarity with construction standards, codes, and HSE requirements.
- Strong documentation and technical reporting skills.

Pay: AED5,000.00 – AED7,000.00 per month
